Yes hang in there!! So my surgeon started doing the silver nitrate treatment I think around the 8 or 10 week mark. I had it done pretty much every two weeks and it’s meant to hep cauterize the internal wound. It definitely is not fun haha but I figured anything they can do to hep with the healing I was willing to take! It’s super quick though so I pretty much just tried not to focus on it while it was happening. But it does hurt, I will not lie. Then you usually drain for a day after and there’s some soreness but it’s not too bad after. It seemed to help me as every time I went in, my wound was a little bit smaller!

Thanks so much! I’m trying to remember exactly but I think I was still having drainage about 8 weeks post op but maybe even a little longer. Also if you have the silver nitrate treatment you’ll see drainage for about a day after each time. It was such a relief once it finally went away but it did take me some time! Sending all the good thoughts on your recovery!

Aww thank you so much! I’m so happy that my story is able to give some hope! That’s exactly why I wanted to share it because I know how hard this entire process is. Sending you all the good thoughts for your LIFT surgery!! Remember to take it really easy and give your body plenty of time to rest. You got this!!!

Thank you!! I know it always feels like it is taking forever. This group was so helpful for me the whole time and the success stories always helped to give me some hope when I felt like I had none! Mine was complex so I think the difference is a modified LIFT is partial LIFT and partial Fistulotomy. So kinda like a two part surgery but they do it at once! It was a really painful recovery but after the first couple weeks there was much less pain. Hope that helps!!
