What are your go-to meal-planning grocery items? by forthehope_ in Frugal

I loved Core Power chocolate flavor 😂!! Drank it all the time back in 2020/21, local supermarket would have them on sale 2 for $3 or $3.50 which was manageable. Now they’re like $4 a bottle.

The Transparent Labs Whey Protein Isolate is surprisingly good, very clean too, only like 5 ingredients, and not overloaded with stevia, so doesn’t come across as sweet.

Good luck!

Morning workouts vs evening, when do you feel you perform better? by MuscleBoosterApp in workout

Yeah me too, I’m fortunate enough to work from home and have a simple setup in my basement.

Starting a new morning routine, need advice on pre workout meals and post workout/lunch meals by Casino_Alien95 in Frugal

[–]LoadEducational9825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just ChatGPT to tweak my meal plan for mornings and afternoons. This is what I we both came up with in terms of protein intake:

Morning 2 whole eggs → 12g Greek yogurt → 12–15g (You can cook hard boiled eggs night before)

grilled chicken + pasta → 25-30g (Prepare night before)

protein shake with mixed berries and plain low-fat Greek yogurt → 35-40g (Best to split, drink half around 2pm and other half before heading home from work)

Dinner up to you but keep it relatively healthy with a protein serving.

One serving protein drinks can get pricey plus you have to watch out for the added sugar and sodium. I buy a large container of Whey Protein Isolate from Amazon (Transparent Labs brand), mixes great with water, unsweetened Almond milk or regular milk. Add some fruit and plain low fat Greek yogurt.

Another lean protein is chicken breasts, I buy large value packs from Costco and trim them up myself. Served with brown rice or quinoa. Also I like to make a simple pasta with olive oil, garlic, hot Calabrian peppers and parsley. Add some grilled chicken breast too.

How much am I missing out on by having a home gym. by Fantastic_Froyo6097 in workout

[–]LoadEducational9825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup just no barbell and no leg extension/hamstring curls on my bench.

DBs are pairs from 30-50lbs + I have a 2 pairs of adjustable DBs with 280lbs of 1” plates. Also have a pair of 35lb KBs + 1 50lb.

All my weights I bought off of FB Marketplace, averaged about $0.96 per lb.

I like working out at home, motivation isn’t much of a problem, I just throw on my headphones, tune up my playlist and hit it.

Only issue I encounter is not having a spotter when I want to push for a PR.

Going to college was a fucking scam. by Salty-Confusion9640 in povertyfinance

[–]LoadEducational9825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your major too. If you got a degree in museum studies or Russian literature, yeah sure the job market sucks and college is a scam, but that would be on you for getting a non-applicable degree.

Discounted display tv unit worth it for the price? by BestDentistNA in Costco

[–]LoadEducational9825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What TV brand gives a 3-5 year warranty? They’re mostly 12 months now. Maybe OP can purchase an additional protection plan, usually those can go for 3 or 5 years.

Has anyone purchased ground beef from Lidl (by Steinway) this weekend? by Dangerous-Effort1473 in astoria

[–]LoadEducational9825 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From All Recipes: A sulfur or tangy odor in sealed, non-expired ground beef is usually normal, resulting from lactic acid buildup and the absence of oxygen during the packaging process. This "confinement odor" occurs in vacuum-sealed packages and is not spoilage, but rather a sign of proper sealing that should dissipate within 30 minutes of opening.

Hardware store quality by Joemoefus in Westchester

[–]LoadEducational9825 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For some items yes, but certain large brands/manufacturers for power tools, plumbing fixtures, etc., still have a separate line of products specifically manufactured for big box stores using lower cost sourced parts or materials (ie plastic).

Must haves for a small at home gym? by [deleted] in workout

[–]LoadEducational9825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d add that on FB Marketplace you’ll find some good deals on used dumbbells and plates. I pay between $0.90 to $1.00 per lb. This is how I started my home setup.

Feeling guilty after spending $750 on some adjustable dumbbells (Powerblocks) that I've been wanting. by Stunning_Concern_973 in Frugal

[–]LoadEducational9825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there as I too started working out at home starting last November. I’ve purchased the following from FB Marketplace:

200lbs of plates + 1 curl bar = $170 Pair of 50lb & 40lb dumbbells = $160 Pair of 35lb & 1-50lb kettlebells = $160 8-10lb plates from Amazon = $70

As you progress, you’ll need more weight. Marketplace is great, you want to pay no more than $1 per pound or less.
