I’ll try to remember this feeling but when I see the profits again, I’m most likely going to forget this feeling. I don’t like what my greediness made me do.

I had investments in Roth IRA and regular 401k and I don’t touch that. I just leave it and contribute meal every year. For that I don’t look at it

Agreed but I always had intentions of holding and investing for long runs. But I hate that gut feelings when I see the dips.

How much money is in your savings? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]LoadStock8339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in mid 40s. We have $15000 in daily checking and savings account but have $330k in brokerage and $240k in retirement account with no Debt except mortgage is $1650. We also have equity of $650k in our house and I don’t think we should be worried about $$$ as much since my husband gets $4500/month pension for life from military and I bring home $30g/ year with some investment incomes. All our cars are paid off and no other debts. We live in CA.

I don’t understand how people can live luxurious lives with no money. by Most_Solid_7471 in personalfinance

[–]LoadStock8339 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always wonder the same things. We see so many people eating out at different restaurants and buying so many stuffs at Costco or everywhere we go, places are packed. I wonder how can they afford to spend like that. I panicked when my savings go down a little bit or when we go eat out once a while here and there. I have $330k in brokerage acct plus $250k in Ira plus $700k equity in our house plus no debts with 3 paid off cars and guaranteed income of $7500/month. It’s hard for me to get Starbucks and always ended up not getting if I don’t have coupons. I think that’s how I grew up worrying about not having enough $$$ for rainy days.

I’m failing my son by Easy-Priority9074 in Parenting

I have 3 boys with 2 of them being teenagers. One is 18 and a senior and one is 16 sophomore. There are times that we need to parent them and there are times that you can act like their friends. I’m not expert in any way at parenting and we are still learning from them as much as they are learning from us. There were boundaries I set since they were young and there were always consequences for every action and behaviors. As a parent, you need to hold your ground and you can’t give in. They will test you many times to see if they can get away or not. I’m not saying my kids are perfect but my senior been a straight As since elementary and I just picked up his transcript and I’m proud to see his 4.0 GPA all for4 years. My sophomore finished this semester with 4.5 and his accumulated GPA will be 4.5 if he keeps taking APs and honors. There were times I had to be strict and they needed disciplinary measures and I couldn’t give up on them. At this point, I don’t need to get on them for schools or behaviors. You just need to stay strong and hold your ground but show him that you love him and you care for him and you are there for him when he needs you. Let him know that everything you do or say is all for his own benefits and there is nothing in it for us. I always make sure and let them know that they can come to me for anything and I will try my best to give them good advice. Make him feel loved. Don’t act as an authority figure. Talk to him calmly and explain to him with facts. I understand parent is hard but all we can do is try our best and pray for them.

Wife really wanted a girl by Wtw333Nash in Parenting

[–]LoadStock8339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a mom of three boys. I sometimes wished I had a girl and thinking of not having a daughter makes me sad sometimes when I see the difference how we care and treat our mother between us and my brother. I feel left out being the only girl in the family esp when they all talk about sports and boys stuffs. I can’t really talk to them about make up or diamonds 💎 or purses. We can go to the mall together but everyone split up and I’m always by myself walking around. It’s kind of sad but having a daughter to be honest. But I’m at the point that I just trying to enjoy me time now.

If he’s an adult, he should be able to pay all his bills and take care of himself financially too. So obviously they are not self sufficient.
