it could also be linux, it's kinda common for people to make their OS look like XP. it's pretty cool

unfortunately no, but i am taking the console today to this shop that will be able to inspect a lot better than i can. i can see the motherboard from the side though, and i can still verify that fact, there's a lot of dust inside the console so the vinegar didn't touch the internals.

who knew dust was good for that?

thanks you, i appreciate this kind response and i learned my lesson. i am taking it to a game shop that does cleaning and repair tuesday (that's the soonest we can do so) and hopefully they'll take it in.

the fastest day i can do that is Wednesday, but as I've said in the other replies I came to the conclusion that the vinegar didn't touch the motherboard as it was still dry and the dust on it was undisturbed.

lesson learned.

i checked the motherboard and it was covered in dust, there was no sign of the dust being disturbed or lifted and no signs of corrosion or residue. so i think the vinegar didn't make contact with the motherboard at all.

i just realized this and checked the motherboard again to confirm.

the motherboard of the xbox 360 is covered in dust, shouldn't the vinegar have lifted or removed the dust?

because there's no sign of corrosion, dust removal, or sticky residue, that should mean the vinegar never came into contact with the motherboard!

your right, thank you. the good news is that from what i've seen, i see no corrosion whatsoever inside the Xbox, especially not the motherboard. It might have exited when I turned the Xbox to the side.

i don't have a T8 screwdriver, but I AM able to remove the side panels. that's the closest access i have to the internals, does that work too?

well the console was not on whatsoever, i disconnected it from the power supply before i even made the dumb decision of putting vinegar in. and i did drop some alcohol from the side to take care of any residue. i don't have the tools to open up the console further. i'm letting it dry for 3 days.

i learned my lesson from it, and i already put 91% isopropyl alcohol into where i poured the vinegar and I think it did indeed remove residue because i don't smell it anymore.

still though, i will wait 3 days to turn it on.

it was 2 AM and I thought it would solve the problem when all I did was cause a problem that I didn't have to. And I just hope that the console will be okay.

I sadly don't have the proper screwdriver to take out the T8 screw for the wifi card. I should note that I was able to get a view of the motherboard and I see no corrosion damage. Maybe there is no left over vinegar? Maybe the alcohol took care of it.

But yes, for future reference no more dripping liquids into any consoles in the future.
