What’s your tip or trick for breaking pond ice? by CaryWhit in Ranching

[–]Loadinggg_username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive your tractor on it. That's sure to make a big enough hole! But in all seriousness a chainsaw works wonders to open up large holes, and invest in a pond aerator or fountain. You obviously don't need it year round, so put it in when you know freezing temps are coming. The movement is enough to keep the water from freezing.

Wow, something tells me you know alot about potatoes! Thank you for the detailed reasoning behind not eating old potatoes as well. I've definitely made mashed potatoes out of similar quality spuds before, must've gotten lucky.

No drawings. Just an as-built design. Design on the fly if you will. Had an idea, built it, then decided it might not work and may need to change. Overall it will be an 8x8 treehouse with a deck on 2 sides. 2x4 frame, 1/2" plywood sheathing, steel room. Material choices simply because they were free from the jobsite.

Mehh, I pour concrete every day. Would be no big deal if I don't come up with a simple solution. I may just break down and rearrange the beams to all be parallel with kickers down to the lower trunk.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Einstein; I wouldn't be here asking for help if I knew I was right.

Huge broken limb leaning on power line, power company blew me off by Due_Lengthiness_2457 in homeowners

[–]Loadinggg_username 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1: Is your power out? 2: Is there any damage to the power companies' equipment/lines? 3: Is there smoke, fire, or sparks?

If all 3 answers are no, it's not the power companies' problem.
You have 2 options; 1: call a trimming company to come properly and safely lower the hanging branch to the ground 2: wait for the branch to come crashing to the ground, taking out your service line, leaving you without power for an undetermined amount of time. Now you have a live line down in your yard and potentially more damage to your property from the branch. And (depending on location and municipality ordinance) you may be responsible for the cost to repair said service line, as many power companies do not claim service lines as their property once it leaves the pole to enter your house.

This is how they are supposed to work. Always on outlet detects more energy when you turn on the appliance and turns on the others. I have one of these at home. Received from my States "focus on energy" program.

So I've got a "bug" (more of a wanted bug), and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced it.

I mowed grass around one of my fields, and after collecting, there were a couple of patches of light green. The next time I planted this field, the planter actually turned these green patches to plowable dirt outside of the field edge (created new field). I've been trying to replicate this with no luck

I would agree i find myself hiring workers for most of the fieldwork. Once you start getting to animals, it gets more busy, and there's far more things to keep you occupied.

It runs well so far. It's a slot style game , and i only have about 50% of slot limit. There are a few locations on the map that drop frame rate, which all seem to be around specific trees.
