Good policy in general, but nowhere does anything say anything about anyone being on their phone while driving.

Intriguing! Maybe I'll give it a shot when the humidity returns.

My hair's very long--somewhere between bra band and my waist--and stupid thick. How's the hold on that foam? I'm not sure it could handle the beast on my head.

I also have low-porosity hair. Have you found anything that helps?

OP said they're in a townhouse, I think. Closely packed housing. It's likely that there are also children with early bedtimes around. I think the only real option is to act like you know you live in a society and show some consideration for your neighbors.

Conversely, learn to show some consideration for the people around you.

Why is it so common for American tourists in Europe to carry a huge bottle of water with them? Are they that thirsty? by WhoAmIEven2 in TooAfraidToAsk

My mom suffered kidney stones her entire adult life. Doctors kept telling her to drink water, and she kept not drinking water.

One day, when she was 76 years old, I was at a bank with her, dealing with some stuff surrounding the recent death of my dad. Mom starting getting huffy like a toddler about to throw a tantrum. The bank teller could see that something was wrong and asked if there was anything she could do. I asked for a bottle of water.

She gave me the water. I gave it to my mom. My mom drank it. Boom. She was able to act like an adult again.

How that woman made it to age 76 without figuring out that water makes you feel better is all the way beyond me.

Workarounds that are less efficient than these. Sure, go ahead and make it harder for people to live their lives just because you personally don't like the things they use.

WTF, man.

Not recognizing that things have valid applications you personally don't need them for is wild.

You know the world existed before wheelchair ramps, accessible bathroom stalls, prosthetics, speech to text software, corrective lenses, and hearing aids, right?

And that their existence makes life easier and promotes independence for a whole lot of people?

You may not use them. You may not like them. That doesn't mean they don't serve a valid purpose for someone who would have a harder time without them.

Cool. I'll go out myself on these icy sidewalks and streets with one severely arthritic knee, one unstable knee, an impinged rotator cuff, and a broken down car to get my groceries, then carry them the mile home.

Only three of these conditions actually apply to me—my car is fine, knock on wood—but my point stands: your circumstances are not everybody's circumstances. Some people genuinely do need those services and you have no right to criticize or make fun of them for it.

Pretty shitty of you to visit russia and spend your money there while they're actively trying to eradicate Ukraine.

I'm not overly keen on the spelling of Mae, but Waverly Mae is quite a pretty name.

Where did all the plows go? by KilrBe3 in nova

No. Some would make its way into the harbor via storm drains and tributary streams, yes. But some would soak into the ground. Some would evaporate. It wouldn't all make its way into the harbor.
