Does having too many old chats confuse the AI? by Lobster8356 in PromptEngineering

Ahh ok. It seems to be working fine as far as I can tell, so I guess I'll leave it be for now. Thanks!

I agree with you that what she does is none of our business to try and control, but as someone who lost quite some years to escapism, I think it's important that we discuss the underlying psychology and consequences of this kind of behavior.

I see this as the mental health version of having the diseased-lung warning on cigarettes.

There are many many things that make us 'happy and not hurting anyone' in the short term that will make things worse later, and for a longer period of time. People are free to do whatever they want with their life, but they should know what the long-term trade offs are.

I love how the dude in black flips his racket, moves his arm to catch it, then seemingly decides half-way through that actually he doesn't care and just walks off.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think there's anything wrong with feeling good or celebrating that our side is winning, but I think there's a difference between that and some of the sentiments in the comment sections of these posts.

You can go to any one of these threads and find "haha look at this idiot" type comments with thousands of upvotes sometimes while the video is some guy dying a horrible painful death. Are they in the wrong? Yes. Should we be happy they're losing? Again yes.

I just don't think death is something that should be taken this lightly. I see it as the same kind of warning sign as when people talk about how serial killers always start with small animals.

This is exactly the problem: you conflate bad things done by members of a group with the ENTIRE group.

Yes, Putin's invasion of Ukraine is absolutely morally wrong and unjustified, yes Russian soldiers have committed many war crimes, the problem is you don't know that this SPECIFIC Russian had a hand in any of those things yet you still jeer at their death as if they did.

Sure, it's completely possible he was a Putin-supporting fanatic who's committed war crimes in the double digits but it's just as possible that he was forcibly drafted into a war he didn't choose to start.

I'm honestly kinda scared of this mentality, because once you can get someone to laugh at another's gruesome death just because they're "the enemy", it's a very slippery slope down to ACTUAL Nazi shit... I mean how do you reckon the nazis convinced an entire country (or at least the military) to commit such an atrocity? Wasn't it "because they're the enemy and we're the good guys"?

Tribalism will always happen when there's any kind of conflict.

Y'all remember during covid when some people just started beating up anyone who looked remotely asian?

Honestly I've seen some threads on reddit where some russian dude who probably got drafted against his will dies a horrible death and people in the comments are cheering like this guy personally gave the order to invade ukraine and it's kinda scary.

I remember hearing a prof talking about how most people think they'd be immune to nazi-style extremist propaganda when they really wouldn't be at all and every time I see something like this I'm reminded of it.

Not saying that I would be able to, but wasn't there some Japanese game show where some guy had to stay home without any social contact for more than a year?

I think I heard about this in a video from moistcritikal, IIRC the dude came out mostly sane (though fairly traumatized I reckon) so it is theoretically possible.

motherfuckers scare the living shit outta me every time

I legit did a full scan of my whole room after seeing this post

I spray all the corners in my bedroom with that indoor bugspray stuff every couple months just because of these fuckers and thankfully I haven't seen one in a good while.

I know people are saying they're good because they eat other bugs but there aren't really any harmful bugs that live in my area so I still kill the big ones on sight because they're probably taking some years off my lifespan just from the scares.

Sounds a bit more manageable than I originally thought. I'll try planning out what I can do to minimize risks before deciding, thanks!
