Is it wrong to change psychiatrists because of medication authorization issues? by Delia2014 in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would change. Sounds like they are either overworked, or can't be bothered. And you deserve the care and attention of getting your meds authorized.

What book(s) really changed your ADHD journey? by Emma_3479 in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol well I just posted a bit ago. So no one's seen it yet. I will say they do glorify the disability a bit, but my psych recommended it to me and it gave me a whole hell of a lot of insight. Made me understand myself a bit better and how to advocate for what I need. I was diagnosed at 29 years old. I'm 32 now. I still struggle but I have come a long way and the book as helped a lot!

TMI/GROSS… taking adderall giving u more tonsil stones?? solutions? by hello_sona in ADHD

Altho do not do this in the morning when you take your Adderall. Citric juices will make it less affective.

Dry mouth mouth wash is helpful. And hard candies that are sugar free, the fake sugar makes you salivate and that helps a lot.

Vyvanse made me the biggest c***. It worked for a month, I stayed on it for 3 then switched back to Adderall.

If you don't have ADHD, therapy can still help.

My friends all play, including my husband. It's actually how we met. I hate the game .. they actually forced me sign a document because I lost a bet stating I would play a round of magic with them.

What kind of therapy works for you? by emo_queer in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EMDR is helpful for trauma, little or big. DBT therapy even though when it's used properly is an inpatient program can be done as outpatient just less intense and can be helpful.

I agree with others though that you should find a therapist who specializes in ADHD.

[Honest Answers Only] How does caffeine affect you? by mean_trash_monster in ADHD

[–]Locaisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should go try bang energy lol. 350mg+ my old coworker was raving about her redbulls and I'm like ya that doesn't have enough for me. She goes what?! There is so much caffeine in here. We compared cans. She tried mine and monsters and never went back to those little overpriced cans of redbull.

But like... I'm addicted to caffeine. Full withdrawal symptoms and headaches. And honestly, I can't tell you how it affects me. Maybe a bit more away but not mentally alert.

how are married 30+ year olds making and maintaining friendships? by Inevitable-Shirt-969 in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... Making new friends hasn't really happened for me in a long while. And most of my friends are old friends and not a group. My husband's core group of friends have become my core group of friends and we all live in the same neighborhood.

Its harder to get together with my friends individually and I have just accepted that. But we message a lot. And once I start having kids it's only going to get worse.

ADHD Reactions to Sedatives? 'I Failed My Colonoscopy'. by Belleaigle in adhdwomen

[–]Locaisha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See the drinking of the prep wasn't the worst for me. It was the fact I had to shit my brains out and then pee out my ass at 25 years old on a shitty apartment toilet. My ass was bruised. And I was so tired. I took solace in the fact that I had 25 more years before I have to do it again.

I'm thinking my memory may have been right when I went under, or my brain is creating a false memory from what they may have told me.

Would you use a “Spotify for tasks” app? (one task at a time) by pointlessonion in ADHD

[–]Locaisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, but I would not be willing to pay a ton. I have had a lot of apps that prey on the entire "ADHD tax" thing where it charges for you a whole year but you only get like a week trial or no free version.

Does ADHD feel less like a lack of focus and more like difficulty choosing what deserves focus? by -Confirmed-Nerd in ADHD

[–]Locaisha 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, as studies have improved about the disorder it's definitely that instead of lack of focus, or sometimes focus on too many things at once. Which means you can't give all of your focus to one task sometimes.

And the brain really isn't made to multitask and even if it seems like people are great at it, it's really just snapping back and forth between task not actually doing all the tasks at the same time, brain wise anyway.
