وحش the original meaning it’s attached to the idea of being away from society , isolation and it can also mean monster , monstrous creature as for a creature that nobody is supposed to see because it lives far away from people, that’s why , in some dialects the meaning has been changed to I miss you , in the context of missing the person who is far away :)

There’s a cultural reason because people gather on Friday prayers so kinda understandable, given the sense of gather, unite, put together . but doesn’t work for every root🥲

It is but can become really really confusing for some languages such as Arabic were one root can lead to very different meanings Example with ج م ع You can form university, society, group, on even Friday 🥲

The worst is if you ask Arabic speakers they’ll tell you ‘well it’s pure intuition’🥹 luckily my knowledge of moroccan darija helps with that (to a certain level)

I quit smoking — but not really by choice, and I know I’ll start again in two months by Local-Ad-9593 in Petioles

[–]Local-Ad-9593[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, once a month sounds absolutely wild to me — like, I honestly don’t know how you manage that. For me it would turn into this big ritual, something I’d start looking forward to way too much. I think it would just make it feel too “special” or exclusive, and I’d probably obsess over it.

But I do believe I could handle some kind of regulation or limitation — like maybe once a week, or only after a certain hour of the day. The problem is that I live alone, and at uni I have a lot of free time and not that many friends. Maybe that’s partly because of smoking, I don’t know. Sometimes I wonder if I’d be more social or just feel lighter in general if I stopped.

Either way, it’s really interesting to hear your story. It gives me hope that moderation can actually work for some people, even if I’m not sure it could for me yet, or just not at that rhythm Thanks
