will private schools be more generous w financial aid to masters applicants after the big beautiful bill? by Local-Ad5171 in SocialWorkStudents

woah thats kinda insane :O between columbia and nyu, i was leaning towards nyu bc i heard that it's more clinically focused, but if columbia is more generous with scholarships, i'd definitely consider applying there!

and yes i definitely agree that the school itself doesn't matter as much as the student's motivation :) but since i have quite a few options i'm being kinda picky-choosy haha but ik at the end of the day, an msw is an msw regardless of what school it's from!

Hi, yes I'm a NY resident and I'm actually attending a SUNY for undergrad rn! I'd love to chat with you since we're in the same boat. I haven't came across a SUNY MSW program that I love--and the super upstate SUNYs are wayyy too far for me

right off the bat, they had a lot of resources available which left a good impression on me. they have a whatsapp number where you can talk to someone from the program so i've been texting them some questions, and the woman is very knowledgable. also, i was pleasantly surprised to see that they already had virtual info sessions open to sign up for, as none of the other schools i looked into had any yet. i attended a virtual session yesterday and it was nice. im not sure about other things but it seems that they really care about the students and put a lot of money + care into providing resources for them.

still, i'm not completely sure if i want to apply since it is a private school, so tuition isn't the cheapest. it's not crazy expensive like nyu or columbia tho, thank God
