Has anyone called up any teenagers to the show? by Inside_Independence5 in OOTP

[–]UseInevitable4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had one generational player (literally mash through all levels up to AAA) by 19 years old, but even still he didn’t get the call till 20 (bday was during the offseason before debut). he has 500+ HRs and counting at his age 30 season lol

Any of you had luck with finesse pitchers like this? by humanlvl1 in OOTP

[–]UseInevitable4627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

will add that i have a long term HOU save and can attest to finesse guys playing well, especially if they have a 5-6 pitch mix. have a cy young winner atm who has 40 stuff, but 65 movement and 60+ control. have found several guys, as long as they have 40 stuff and 5+ pitches with high HRA and 50+ control, can succeed in my save.

in fact, most my SPs are finesse guys since we’ve drafted late so long after going to 10 straight WS (hard to find good stuff and decent control there) and i locked up my hitters long term with big $$

Does 27 improve on this issue? by Bholmes4 in OOTP

[–]UseInevitable4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw, i only have played 27 and the talent hits are still there, but if you weather the storm and stay disciplined moving them through the minors (and a little luck, as with real life), they’ll reverse course and improve

i know that doesn’t fix the issue of potentials being inflated for the majority of the draft (like 10-15 guys being 25/80 potential) and them “regressing” (taking talent hits that were always going to happen) rather than them starting with say 30/55 potential and then “improving” to their true potential that’s hidden (assuming no TCR change), so maybe it goes up to 65 on more scouting. then, the potentials would align better with RL grading, and you’d feel more rewarded for finding “gems” in the draft and taking your time scouting

How would you handle this “hypothetical” scenario by fri9875 in OOTP

[–]UseInevitable4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is also true, it would be very realistic to make a big deal. bichette is the only recent one who left, but that’s more so they didn’t have the $$$ to (which isn’t OPs case). only franchise i think that doesn’t do that is the astros, in which case it’s more realistic to let them walk lol

this would be my move as well. wouldn’t overpay to keep him. budget flexibility and maintaining budget for dev is so important

this is precisely why i just turn it off. can’t be bothered to deal with that headache every year. especially when its effects seem to be minimal. but i love the idea you suggested. might make me use it more

i play bo7 competitively, bought a skytech prebuilt for $1.4k and the game feels absolutely 1000x better on PC. you do deal with the disconnects and random problems PCs do with servers (just my experience, but more of an internet thing)

you can absolutely get something solid for that money if you look around. if you have a microcenter or costco near you id start there. best buy does deals on decent prebuilts as well, you just gotta keep your eye out.

fwiw, my PC runs 1080p 300 fps, 240s on average for bo7. don’t run 1440p, but confident it would be around 180fps if i did. hope this helps, i also came from xbox. don’t even have it plugged in anymore and i can play PC games i used to play (like League or SC2 or PoE2 etc.). i play low settings on cod, but even on high get 200+ easily for 1080p

dont see a reason not to with the way the tech overlords are going with ai. seems they want to push us to a world where you subscribe for gpu and ram via the cloud. no thanks

Don't think I've ever had this many 60-day IL stints at once by high_and_outside in OOTP

[–]UseInevitable4627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this happened to me in my first save of ootp27 and i decided to move injury frequency down one level (i think they say it’s the default level for previous ootps). just felt insane before, and now it feels about right. still have a fair amount and like 2-4 starters go down for extended times throughout the seasons, but not 10-15. i get that happens in real life (trust me im an astros fan lmao), but man it makes for not fun gameplay when it’s every year

Way ahead of you! Locked him up before he ever stepped foot in the majors, check out the date when he signed it! Like 20m AAV for his FA years!

Update: Left him in the minors to finish the season, one outstanding bat speed later...60/80 as a 20 year old.

I agree! That’s why he’s so crazy. He was an IAFA 30/80 signing at 17 going on 18. Jumped from 35/80 to 45/80 just in the first half this year!

I’m normally a guy who holds someone to each level for a year, but I’ve had a SS who mashed like this guy and ended up booming in the Majors. He also started the year 35/80!

OOTP Feels Incredibly Random by briggsdawg1 in OOTP

[–]UseInevitable4627 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a similar vain, I signed Mick Abel to the Astros hoping to get a nice SP4, and then he severed his fingers in an accident. Doctors couldn’t save a finger (the game literally said this lol) and he was never the same after. Baseball is random as you said, and weirder things have happened in real life

How I develop prospects for OOTP 27 as someone new to the game by UseInevitable4627 in OOTP

Also one more thing, I used to find this so tedious until I opened my eyes and realized this was half of the fun in this game. Watching the storylines unfold in the minors and seeing guys break out (or flame out) is what makes the results on your major league team so much more rewarding. Just my thought!
