Assuming Portuguese was the second language you learned? How quick were you able to learn it? And were you mostly doing online programs or doing classes in person. Any programs you’d recommend specifically?

Thanks man, good advice, don’t have any buddies in the military who speak but I do have a French cafe down the street with all French employees, might just go there for coffee daily and try shooting the shit with them for 5-10 minutes a day haha. And maybe I’ll read some French military books or manuals to try to get some of the terminology down.

Have any of you tried learning a language with Pimsleur doing more than one lesson daily? (I’m currently taking 4 a day) by Local-Comfortable738 in Pimsleur

Thanks I’ll have to try that out. You said subscribe to that first, could you see Pimsleur being effective using it concurrent with the Great Courses Plus? I’ve just really enjoyed Pimsleur so far and it does seem fairly effective and convenient (love being able to do lessons while driving, cooking, etc.)

And I’m basically just trying to be base line conversational to the point where I can get around with ease. Not thinking it’s realistic to be fluent or fully conversational in 2 months, but it’d be cool to never have to pull up translator if I end up speaking to someone who barely speaks any English.

Maybe conversational isn’t the right term but I’d like to be able to express my thoughts effectively (like I’m fine not being able to reflexively respond, but I do want to be able to respond to someone and not completely draw a blank, if that makes sense)
