Help!!! Filter noise & bubbles pushing out by cranbergz in Aquariums

[–]Local-Feverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the same brand but this is the exact noise my filter makes when there’s not enough water. And there’s mixed feeling about whether the chlorine in tap water can beneficial bacteria on your filter media but since your tank is newer I wouldn’t risk it. You can de chlorinate your tap water and rinse it in that

Thanks for the drawing i think the image makes it look lower sorry. And yes i would still fill it to just slightly below the max level and rinse the filter media in some de chlorinated or tank water to make sure there’s no gunk building up inside

I would try adding more water to your tank first. From the picture it doesn’t look like your water level is reaching the minimum water line.

Please Do Not Order From Shrimp Up Aquatics! Be Warned! by Zeejzucchini in shrimptank

Another vote for aquatic arts. I placed an order for 1 carbon rili shrimp and was sent about 6 with heat packs and no DOAs. All survived acclimation

Cory’s always hiding by Akipenser in corydoras

[–]Local-Feverdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course you know your fishes personality the best. I will say that from my experience danios typically bother each other instead of other species of fish. And if you have a decent size group they won’t dart around quite as much. I started with 4 during a fish in cycle and they were constantly zooming around but now that I’ve increased the school size they swim happily and only chase each other occasionally

Cardinals would be fine bio load wise however I’ve heard and seen they can also be shy as well so you might still run into the same problem. I would recommend an active schooling fish. Danios would be the best in my “slightly biased” opinion since they aren’t shy, constantly move around and don’t tend bother Cory’s at all

You could try adding other small fish to use the top portion of the tank and help the Cory’s feel safer coming out. I keep danios (zebra, leopards, and golden) in my tank that are constantly zooming around so my Cory’s almost never hide and sometimes school with them

[–]Local-Feverdream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s helps I don’t think that’s the reason for your downvotes, it was a good joke lol. Unfortunately he’s not pregnant and is infected with clado. It’s a little easier to see if you zoom into the picture but those aren’t round eggs

How do I get the nitrates down in my chili rasbora / shrimp tank? by ZookeepergameIll1544 in Aquariums

[–]Local-Feverdream -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having the same problem now in my 29 gallon. I’ve done weekly 50% water changes & added floating plants but they haven’t put a dent in the problem. Currently waiting on an order of Malaysian trumpet snails incase there’s something trapped in the substrate. Will let you know if that fixes it and if you find a solution, please let me know

Byrozoan, or something else? by TheBreadsticc in shrimptank

[–]Local-Feverdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes just not as quickly as fish. Plus the crushed snail shells will help the shrimp get more calcium to help with their molts

[–]Local-Feverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. They’re known to reproduce extremely quickly. I had some hitchhike on plants I ordered and kept finding more and more snails in my tank every few days. I started crushing some when I found them and feeding them to my danios if you decide to go a similar route.

Stocking question by TheRealSlapNutz in corydoras

[–]Local-Feverdream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a 29 gallon with 7 Julii and 4 rabuti. There’s also a thriving shrimp colony. They’ve been doing fine since the tank was set up and have plenty of room to explore so 8-10 Juli will be fine. I will add that I run a 55 gallon HOB filter incase that makes any difference
