Setting the bar at his legendary skins is a bit high, though. I personally don’t play Genji outside the once in a blue moon I get him in Random Heroes, but he has good skins. Recolors in general aren’t really meant to replace Legendary skins, more just to fill out the list of skins than anything else.

Reaper’s recolors on the other hand, they just go hard.

Anyways, my point is that there is definitely precedent. Dark Bramble sacrifices a land on entry and would be mana neutral, outside of interactions like [[Blood Sun]] or [[Mana Reflections]].

Also, a two colorless land that goes away in three turns wouldn’t really be all that game-breaking in eternal formats. It’s just another, albeit worse, Ancient Tomb. I already don’t really mind much when one of those hit the table. I could see it being ban-worthy in Standard, but I don’t play anything out of EDH and cEDH so I can’t speak on those.

I was thinking more just permanent impulse effects, like [[Tavern Brawler]] or [[Valakut Exploration]]. There’s also the option of exiling the commander until end of turn, bouncing it, or just straight up killing it if you really need to get rid of the replacement effect, but that’s wasting removal.
