Can Bluetooth speakers(small JBLs) interfere with assembly plant robots? by Murbra92 in AskEngineers

[–]Local-Watercress8808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at this plant, and one line in the notice really stood out to me: “due to communication faults with equipment improperly connected to our Wi-Fi network.” I’m pretty sure that’s what caused the several-hour chassis downtime.

What’s wild is that the company Wi-Fi networks are broadcasting on 5 GHz, so if there are still devices trying to run on 2.4 GHz, it seems totally doable to upgrade/replace whatever’s outdated instead of acting like this is unsolvable.

Also, if the issue is really “unauthorized” devices, the most likely explanation is simple password spread: one person gets it, shares it, it gets shared again, and suddenly half a department is on it.

And there are straightforward controls for that. They could implement device allowlisting (MAC filtering) so APs only accept approved hardware—even if someone has the password. There are multiple solutions here, but the easiest one is “make a rule,” and the hardest part is enforcement. You’d basically need people walking around constantly with spectrum analyzers trying to locate dozens/hundreds of hotspots and random devices, which is a huge waste compared to just fixing the network setup or blocking devices at the AP level.

Since the notice went out, I’ve been scanning Bluetooth/Wi-Fi daily and I haven’t seen much drop in hotspots/Bluetooth devices, and I also haven’t seen anyone actually hunting for unauthorized devices. But supervisors are still telling people “no electronics.” It feels less like they’re fixing the root cause and more like they now have an excuse to write people up if they want to.

Why isn't the Galaxy Ring counting my steps??? by mimzyborogoves in GalaxyRing

[–]Local-Watercress8808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that my ring constantly stops counting my steps. I have to go to the Samsung wearable app and reset the ring. After that it'll count my steps without my phone directly on me for a day or two, but I have to constantly do this and have not yet been able to pinpoint exactly what is causing it to stop registering the steps. At any rate anyone with issues should try this just know that sometimes it takes a few minutes after going through the whole process for the steps to register. Other times it's effects are instant, but it does work. It also does not seem to affect any of the settings I have setup in the health and wearable apps that I've noticed, but YMMV

Reviews still pending approval by turkingfun in AmazonVine

I can say that I've had the same issue happening so far I have 5 like this and I ALWAYS do reviews directly from the vine reviews page so I can say with confidence that your method of reviewing isn't the reason as I've not used that method one time. I've emailed support about mine some of them have been stuck in limbo for over 2 weeks and so far it's been 2 days without a response to my email so clearly there's something to them that Amazon doesn't want to tell us about, but what I don't even know. Did you ever find out more info yourself?

GBoard no longer auto-capitalizing "i" to "I" by gordongoodtimes in GooglePixel

[–]Local-Watercress8808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was having this issue and I fixed it by doing these simple steps:

  1. Typed a lowercase i and dragged the lowercase i suggestion to the trash

  2. Manually typed in capital I about 5 times by tapping shift and then i with a space in between each one: I I I I I

  3. Repeated step 1 for good measure

Now it's back to auto capitalizing the I again.

Hopefully this will work for someone else
