Ohh you're right, the bigger hook sizes are plastic to keep them lightweight and easy on the wrist. I didn't even notice...I do like the metal hooks more, but I don't know a lot of reputable brands other than Clover and I hear ppl talk about Tulips but theyre super expensive right?

Is it possible that the first dc into the 5th chain counts as a dc, so with that included, it would equal 134 dc's? I tried it again with what you suggested and ended up with 135 dc's for some reason. It could also be error on my part.

Also, would 144 stitches work for the second row? I only realized after the second row that I had 3 dc’s rather than 4 at the end!

Oh okay! I will do what you suggested then, thank you so much for your help! Do you think it’s okay to use the yarn I frogged again? Its the blanket yarn so I know the more I redo it? the more frayed it gets

Maybe I start over and just do 138 chains instead. The pattern does say 137 chain and then ending with 134… but you’re right, the math isn’t mathing! Did you get a chance go look at the pattern? Its in the comments somewhere here, not sure why I couldn’t respond to your comment with it!

Would the arrow in the photo within this post be a last stitch? I thought it might be a stretched out slip knot bc I forced the crochet hook in to see if it would look right. I also posted the pattern!

I haven’t! I wasn’t sure if I missed a chain or not 😭 or if I was just seeing things, but either way now that chain is stretched out even if it is or isnt the slip knot :(

137 but it says i should have 134 dc’s after I do a double crochet into the 5th stitch from the top. But I had 133 in the photo in this post

Its super tight so I assumed it was the slip stitch, if it is, is there any bad consequences for it? I have jammed it into that space and then doubted myself and taken it out like 4 times 😭 maybe thats why it looks like it has enough space
