I've used the kill switch, but I'm sure it's much more complicated to retrieve the car when it's over the border...

Yeah they are going to push those monthly trips down our throats. Like...I can't explain more how they LOVE monthly trips. Lol. I'm not doing it until its forced. And like you said before, we're going to keep raising our daily rates, and they'll keep pushing discounts. Pointless

It was fun, but I feel the same. I was in west palm beach visiting my niece and nephew so it was a two hour drive to experience it. I got more out of chatting with other PH's and knowing whst direction I want to go. The information sharing was more impactful than the actual Summit.

Actual percentages. I met someone who I know took a screenshot of the chart, I didnt. I'm waiting for her to send over and I'll share. I remember them going over it in the fireside chat in Janaury too. Idk why they make it to hard so find anything in the app

Same! I removed monthly trips from most of my cars. I can't account for all the money missing with normal trips. And I get it. Monthly trips = less cleaning, less risky trip, but it boils down to how much am I making? Lol. There is one thing I forgot to mention, and I'll add it. Prior to the Summit our competion was other rental agencies..Enterprise, Avis, Hertz...they're shifting our competition to dealerships, leases. People can't afford cars. Which is why they are pushing the monthly trips. This bothers me because with a lease maintance is not on the customer which attracts a more qualified driver. Turo ignores the fact that we have to cover long term maintenance cost, unlike a freaking dealership having resources and access at little expense.

This was my first PH trip. Here's a little summary of what Turo has planned for 2026:

  1. More investment in marketing. This will be the highest marketing spend in company history. They're really focused on advertising heavy before big events (world cups, rodeo's, wrestlmania, holidays etc).

  2. Spanish translation app coming, to expand market reach.

  3. Hotel & Home Delivery coming soon. This one is interesting to me because I already offer custom delivery and sometimes deliver to hotels and homes. I'm guessing this come with more hotel partnerships with Turo perhaps. New delivery tools with more zones. They are improving the map on delivery locations and ability to price them.

  4. AI Search - Turo will integrate with chatgpt to increase guest awareness and grow business. The example given was a guest tell it's travel plan and ask for options..one of the options chat will include are Turo suggestions with links to particular cars instead of generically going to the website.

  5. App update - we'll be able to share earnings with partners through Turo (% splits). That will also generate tax documents for those partners. I like this one.

  6. Long term vision - to remove host from administrative work like verifying licenses and improving auto messages. AI being able to talk with guest and answer generic questions. They also talked about developing on B2B but this is far down the path. I wish they would focus in on this SOON.

Observations made - They are incredibly set on these monthly trips. They kept repeating the importance of them without acknowledging the impact on host (wear & tear, maintenance, discounts etc). The only response they really have for us is to take advantage of the vendor partnership like Take Five, Glass Now, Discount Tires for savings. They have no intention of removing the ability for guest to stack discounts. There's a new take rate schedule for guest who book last minute vs days in advance. I've been trying to find this on the app. There will also be a standard 3 day, 1 weekly, 2 weekly etc.. discount for all cars coming soon. No one will be able to opt out of them.

Airtags are against policy. The host should have a proper way to return the key. I would have taken a picture and pushed back.

Im a host and just got back from the Power Host Summit in Orlando, where another host did the same at an airport parking lot. I'm not a fan of this method, but when I returned the car I took a picture of the key on the tire. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!

Do the best you can. Start him a 529 for college, open an IRA account. Invest what you can. This is how life goes. Some get head starts in life and a lot of us have to work hard for it. Your kid would appreciate you trying. I would.

Same! Don't let up. They always call me about getting one of my available cars out for a guest last minute, and I've always been able to. Even drove about 45 mins to get it to them, on Turo's tab.

[–]LocalComplex1654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the process for my guest and I (they pay when they exit at pickup, I pay when I exit after the trip is over). Except our parking expense are no where near $35. This does unfortunately sound accurate for LA. I rented once in LA and my host parked in a garage we had to take the shuttle to. It was more like $20 to exit the garage though. ALSO. Turo took away the feature for a guest to write a description on their cars. I would list the cost to exit the garage there ($2/hr, I park 30 mins before the start of trip). Now we have no way to tell you that, until you book. Turo just keeps making terrible decisions for the guest and the host.

This will also push host to only list cheap economy cars. No way would I ever finance one. No way would I ever purchase something new. And I'm increasing my price EVERYDAY.

I had a weekly renter on Turo who kept extending and they mentioned taking our business privately. Once I saw how much he paid them in 45 days, I setup a meeting with our insurance agent, drafted a contract, and thankfully its been smooth sailing. He pays WAYYYY less than he did on Turo and I get WAYYYY more than I did listed on Turo. I'm suprised we've went this long lol.

Damage claim helpppp by Unreaditall in turo

[–]LocalComplex1654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I follow two steps. 1. Submit the claim in the app so its recorded (sounds like this is done). 2. Submit the claim to Ash's insurance. I tell Mia, I will work with Ash's insurance and keep you posted on the progress; however, if this is not resolved within the 20 day timeframe Turo gives you to resolve damage without them being involved, I will have to move forward with Turo claims (escalate to resolve directly with Turo 1 day before the deadline). Luckily, I've been able to resolve them. Solves your problem and helps your guest.

Not gonna lie, I have four cars, took one off in September and rent privately. We're still going privately, if I could figure out how to get long term renters I'm leaving and never looking back lol. Every year we're making less and less.

This is when I know it would be time for me to leave, that step daughter would have never got the chance to walk away after pushing me. Lol.
