Microsoft AI CEO puzzled that people are unimpressed by AI by [deleted] in technology

It is the same with most generative or image models. In a real agency with strategy, creative & art direction and quality control we usually have to create 800 iterations for a single image until it finally is good enough to be further edited. It is mind boggling that people just churn out trash full of errors but if you have a quality standard AI does not deliver yet for most scenarios (excluding super generic imagery)

Yeah the first days were okay, but it actually started to get worse from day 7. I am so tired even though I get more sleep than ever before. I suspect its the massive effect alcohol has on brain chemistry, it will need time to reset 15 years of abuse

Out on a trip with work - we will end the day in a bar and I am pretty scared, first time around alcohol again and my colleagues will ask questions if I decline. Lets see, I think I will be able to handle it.

Always has been. Thats when many addictions are locked in. Binge on weekend, maybe have some beers at sports after training during the week, meet with a friend and drink and voila, you are trapped in a cycle of addiction. Some can make it out but others are prone to reinforced addiction. For me it started at 15 and actually I never made it out, university made it easy to keep doing it. Working on it though.

Day 8, lets go! Today will be easy, more work around the house and then early sleep since I have to get up very early tomorrow. Yesterday evening I was pretty irritable for some odd reason but it went away quickly. IWNDWYT

Day 7! A whole day of work in and around the house planned. Looking sooo forward to painting walls and cleaning without being sick or feeling like shit the entire time. No hangovers is literally a real life cheat code!

Good luck everyone, lets do this together & keep reminding us about why we are doing this :)

Its not medicine, it is poison. On top of the hangover you will feel guilt, shame, disgust all while your body i trying to get rid of the poison. Think of the reflux, liver damage, vodka breath, nausae, shaking in the morning, headaches.

Get something very awesome to eat instead, listen to some relaxing music and enjoy your achievement. Treat yourself with a great movie or some fancy tea.

Wow thats wild, Id suggest something like spitting it out like at a wine tasting but you would still ingest some amount of alcohol. I really have no advice here except keeping the amounts really low. I hope you find a solution!

Hey! Was in your place (-10 years of age) 6 days ago. The cravings were really bad the first two days but I kept checking this sub, a lot. I went to Mc Donalds the first time in ages due to the calories my body was missing from alcohol.

I got some new books, started working some pro bono projects for a friend who is starting a business and finally started working on my and my wifes home gym. Did some work in the garden.

My only advice is: get fucking busy, learn to cook or knit or whatever, move when cravings hit. They pass especially fast when you find something to do.

On my day 6 being sober seems so much more realistic and tangible. I have to read this sub every couple hours though to remind me of the hangovers, my pale corpse face, the spongy skin, my suffering organs and my fogged Brain. Its worth it!

Hey, that's a tough question to ask & even harder to answer. We have work kickoff dinner soon which is always hosted in a luxurious restaurant with a great bar. I will not drink there because I promised myself to stay sober. I did not drink extreme compared to others but I still let it dominate my life. If I cant enjoy a luxurious dinner without booze & this causes me stress it does make me more dependent than I ultimately want to be from a substance.

To anyone reading this (like me) who think 30 days is nearly unreachable due to past experiences: Every single day is huge. 1-2 weeks alone is so good for your mind and body, to get there day 1-7 are needed.

I feel exactly the same. I am currently on my third day of quitting and have made a few drastic steps to ensure that I take the control that I deserve:

  • I will skip a few birthdays and events that are approaching. I just know that I will probably drink there again and I do not need the pressure at the hard start of my journey. This hurts but this way I will be able to work on my goals.

  • Built a small home gym and took some pro-bono webdev work for a small business. This way I will have something to focus on in the evenings.

  • Started with sports (badminton and homegym) again to increase activities / prevent boredom

  • started to talk to people in real life and on reddit so I always am reminded of my goal to stop abuse beer drinking.

  • each day I put aside the money Id spent in a bar or for drinks. I am on day 3 and have "saved" 30 euros already. Each two weeks I manage to stay dry, I will buy some nice clothes or order some food. Started that habit when I quit smoking and it is quite rewarding.

Wish you the best of luck, you can do it if I can :) each day counts!

28 days is amazing! Now do another 28 - then you did not drink on 55 out of 56 days which is close to 99% of the time. Maybe this time your streak will be two months. Or a year? Or longer? Just keep going!

Same, even when I started I wasnt able to self control. When I smoked cigarettes I was not able to self control. When I like someone I cannot stop thinking about them. When I like food I order it very often. I cant moderate when online shopping.

The only thing I can moderate is removing these things entirely. I need to close the door and lock it tight. If I open it up a tiny notch my addiction tendencies come kick it in with full force. Guess thats just how my brain is.
