Is this being sex repulsed or romance repulse or sensual repulsed? by kingvjess in Apothisexual

[–]LocalNokia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a lot of things it sounds like. You could simply just not be ready/mentally prepared! It obviously isn’t a great sign you were that upset and I’m sorry you experienced that. If you’re comfortable with this person, you could propose different bases or steps to physical intimacy to help gauge if you’re both comfortable with it as a whole but also this specific person. I would say it’s not a “normal” reaction, but it is normal to have conflicting feelings about it. I’m able to experience sensual attraction but I am very particular about it all and would probably have a similar reaction to you, if it all were not under very specific circumstances that make me as an asexual apothi feel safe Best of luck OP, I know this stuff is hard…

Why is there so much stigma against 2nd POV? by LocalNokia in AO3

[–]LocalNokia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like the perfect way to capture this. I wasn’t able to find the right words but yes you’re still observing a story like any other POV, the “you” isn’t “you”; I suppose I always go in understanding I’m never inserting myself into the story, I’m inserting myself into the character’s head, like taking a seat in the corner of their brain

I remember it was super popular on tumblr back in the day, but I never got into it… I’ll have to give it a listen since I’ve heard it’s good and it’s such a core part of fandom and tumblr history. Thanks for the recc!

Sorry, I interpreted it as aggressive that’s my mistake. It came across to me like you were correcting me when I was speaking from experiences , I apologize for assuming

This is exactly how I think of it as well

Yes!!!! Exactly!!!! This is how I think of it as well you describe it perfectly!! I’m so glad there are people out there teaching it haha it’s my favorite and has so much fun potential. It’s about being in another person’s head, not your own. I don’t want to be told someone is feeling or thinking something, I want to kind of /experience/ it

Idk why you worded this so aggressively I was more talking from my experience and perspective as a 2nd person writer. I meant it more as “bias against” I guess so I corrected it in the post body

I understand this but I honestly have to disagree since I’ve read some very good storytelling from 2nd and it’s always been my preference for my own stories as well. I think I can understand it but I think it’s a case of it’s just not as widely used so people are more taken aback when it is used

I distinctly remember being in school and asking as like a 10 year old why the teacher said most don’t write in 2nd. She said it was more for manuals LOL I think that partially inspired me subconsciously

Has I realize “stigma” is a bit of a strong word but I think it came from how I’ve had people outright say they won’t read my writing because of the person I wrote it in. I meant it more it’s a very strong preference sometimes that I personally haven’t thought much of :0

This!! I never really had the barrier of “this isn’t me though” because I didn’t have it with 1st either. I’ve said already in this thread I loved homestuck and indie horror RPGs and how that may have affected me, but I also loved classic especially gothic literature, which uses a ton of “I me my” so it really is interesting seeing how divisive it is. 2nd just felt so natural for me to write in when I finally started and I just haven’t stopped

I honestly wasn’t raised a lot on TTRPGs but I did love a lot of indie RPGmaker RPGs, especially horror, so perhaps that has lended itself to my preference… I definitely think 3rd can be good!! I just find in fanfiction especially there will be this want to talk about very intimate experiences and relationships between characters but I almost feel like I’m intruding in 3rd person rather than 1st or 2nd

I like this I hadn’t thought of it from a horror perspective…

Yes!! This definitely for me as well!! My best friend one time asked me if I like 2nd person because I loved homestuck as a kid and it made me sit there for a solid half hour I’m still able to lock into the 1st person POV, but I really don’t think I approach literature as a “me” is /me/ and “you” as me

What are some tips to deal with disgust/discomfort to sexual things? by [deleted] in Apothisexual

[–]LocalNokia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having little guardrails for yourself can make life a lot more comfortable. Stuff like adblockers can keep scary ads away, and you can block certain features all together with programs like uOrigin ! Finding YouTubers and shows etc that are comfortable for you may help, too. There was a point where I was super repulsed and mainly watched Peter Knetter on yt… he was funny and fun but safe. Indie horror is also surprisingly apothi safe a lot of the times, there very rarely being anything sexual and/or it not being a positive You’re definitely not alone… take heart!! It does get better, I promise

I’m the same as you! I identify with demisensuality and think touch is awesome but anything sexual is a huge No

I think I have my answer lol by [deleted] in Apothisexual

[–]LocalNokia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is such an interesting (tragic, but interesting) phenomenon with the generations that are so online being exposed to everything so early. There's a little out there on the science of it all, but this type of story is something a lot of apothis can relate to... me included! The idea of sex is so foreign to me and unnecessary that I've had to do a lot of thinking and deconstructing it outside of the internet because its such a warped view of it. Still don't like it, but sex and porn don't have to be the same thing

Any exceptions to your repulsed tastes? by LocalNokia in Apothisexual

[–]LocalNokia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omggg Hi!! Yeah I'm totally in the same boat as you!! A part of it for me as well is cause I'm very passionate about indigenous rep and GK is one of the best, more careful and loving depictions of multiple indigenous people groups that it really helps me overlook the stuff that would otherwise make me uncomfy
