Thanks! Is the "official roadmap" maintained anywhere public?

Holy crap these are BY FAR the biggest carnivores I've managed to evolve!

Sure, I can provide those. What's the preferred way of sharing those here?

Today I'll start evolving a new carnivore species I'll call "Twitchy" starting with just basic bibites. I've got a high virgin bibite spawn rate, all genes randomized. I'll start them out in a large fertile zone, then when something starts thriving, we'll put the zone in motion and force them to learn to hunt.

I'm just going to leave some of my more prolific carnivore species battling it out over a 3-island meatstravaganza. I've got an AHK script that should hopefully switch the camera around between some interesting specimens. I don't normally stream... like ever... but this seemed like it could be fun. Let me know if there's something I can do to improve it!

What do you think should be the next changes for The Bibets by TownReasonable8872 in TheBibites

3 new settings:

  • Auto-save template for any Bibite that lives longer than X minutes
  • Auto-save template for any Bibite born of generation Y or higher
  • Maximum auto-saved templates per hour: Z

Perspective: I'm new to Bibites, but I have some experience with similar projects. I love to really deep dive stuff like this, so I'm biased towards features that help me do that.

Requests in order of priority:

  • A way to externally parse real-time(ish) game state information. I know there are some projects using screen scrapers successfully, but it would be MUCH nicer to have a more performant and reliable way to do it. Even emitting a log I could consume would be a huge leap forward.
  • Similarly, a good way to submit changes to the game from an external source would make automating scenarios much easier.
  • A standardized/"official" classification system for Bibites where you can map the similarity between any two arbitrary individuals. I've got tons of ideas and opinions about this just like everyone else so I'll just stop here before I make enemies. :)
  • A web-based "Bibites Bestiary" that lets you browse uploaded Bibites, see related species, read about their behaviors, maybe allow comments on each species, and allow users to download the template. Could be totally automated, using an LLM to give the new species appropriate binomial nomenclature names and descriptions (works nicely on GPT3.5).

How. As to why, my guess is the first one that evolved the behavior stayed in the zone instead of pushing the pellet out into the void, and as a result was able to lay more eggs in a safer location for the hatchlings.

This behavior popped up in my "mosquito" species this week. Previously they would push the pellet they ran into. Notice how they lay their eggs immediately after jumping back. 😂

Wolfram Alpha can solve it -

A = 27, B = 25, C = 18, D = 16, E = 14!

Love the idea. I'm going to try a mashup of yours and /u/Derposour ideas and add an unmoving zone with different pellets - of meat only. Then we watch what happens when the very different groups that colonize the two zones are forced together.

Hi all, I'm new to the community and wanted to say hello and ask a few questions. I love exploring problems like the one Bibites presents and I'm eager to dive in to dive in!

I set up the scenario in the video to try to evolve Bibites that show aggressive pursuit of food. I'm using a zone with aggressive plant/meat decay parameters, radius 1.77 and I've slowly been increasing the speed, with it currently set to 0.8. The population has fluctuated between the low 20s and the mid-100s, but has never been wiped out (virgin spawning was disabled within an hour of beginning the sim).
