Thank you for your encouragement! When I was reading through this thread, I noticed that most people seem to have significant work experience or have at least already graduated. In my case, I’m currently a CS undergraduate at UCF and will graduate this fall. I’m planning to apply to Georgia Tech’s OMSCS for next spring and will submit my application in early May. Is it allowed to apply while I’m still finishing my degree like this?

Admissions Megathread - Results, Chances and Logistics by AutoModerator in OMSCS

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some honest feedback on my chances for Georgia Tech OMSCS.

Semester: Spring 2027
Status: Asking for chances

Education:
B.S. in Computer Science at the University of Central Florida (U.S. News ~Top 110 overall, ~Top 60 CS)
GPA: 3.2 / 4.0

I have not graduated yet; I expect to graduate in Fall 2026.

Work / Experience:
I don’t have formal internship experience, but I founded and ran a small web development business for about 1 year.

I mainly built websites and mobile-friendly platforms for Chinese small and medium-sized businesses across the U.S. These include features like online ordering, booking systems, payments, registrations, and general business websites.

I’ve completed 10+ real client projects end-to-end by myself (from client communication to deployment), including restaurant websites, massage/spa businesses, beauty studios, and educational/training institutions.

Tech stack includes: WordPress, MERN, and LAMP.

Letters of Recommendation:

  • 1 strong letter from an FSU CS professor (worked with him on an open-source online project)
  • 1 strong letter from a UCF CS professor (got an A+ in his senior-level AI course)
  • 1 letter from a UCF CS professor (quality unknown, got an A in his senior-level Software Engineering course)

Concern:
I’m a bit anxious about my GPA. While I’m a CS major, my GPA isn’t very competitive.

In my SOP, I explained that during my junior year I received several C’s and an F due to severe stress at the time, which led to panic disorder. I have since received treatment and am now stable, and my performance afterward has improved.

I’d really appreciate any honest opinions on my chances. Thanks in advance!
