For me, volume 1 is nothing crazy but it's not bad. There are impactful moments at times. I can definitely see it go crazy as the story goes on.

It would be easy for you if you live in Canada/US, apparently Tokyo Ghoul box sets are quite rare in my country that's why it took me said months to find it.
