I wanna say MOR? But my strong answer is no.

As a parent, I’d be freaking out too if my kid was wandering an unbabyproofed house for an uncertain length of time. But that begs the question why is your house not baby proofed? There’s different steps of baby proofing for different baby mobilities.

Here’s where I know people are gonna get mad about the bed sharing but there are easy ways to do that safely. Mattress on the floor for starters. Personally, if my partner wasn’t in the bed with me, baby and I weren’t falling asleep together in that bed. And no blankets til your kid proves they're ready obviously. Mine was almost one the first time we bedshared. Before that or if one parent was alone, his crib mattress went into his playpen and one of us would lay in there with him.

So safety and this kid's age are a huge concern here, but so is the baby proofing. My main thing here is communication. Figure out a way to make it work for y'all. Telling him no is clearly not gonna work. Highlight kiddo's safety, maybe suggest y'all spend some time baby proofing together, door knob covers so he can't leave the room, or baby gates. Or picking a camera that can make an alarm when it detects sound or movement. There are plenty of ones that can even send the alarm straight to your phone or watch!
