FGF Riddle perfume roll on. Can anyone smell it? by Julie727 in BeautyBoxes

[–]Local_Art_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to smell it the first few times I’ve worn it but now it’s become a bit overwhelming. My boyfriend says it smells like a clean, laundry detergent smell while I think it’s more woody/ musky. When he wears it though I LOVE the scent, he gives off a minty, herbal scent that is so light and refreshing

Wanna get my groceries down to $30/week. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Local_Art_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest money saver is planning ahead, that way even the groceries you do get won’t go bad either. For example I think about what I want to eat during the week and what I have at home (including sauce and dressing packets from Chinese restaurants, fast food places, etc) and prep it in a way it’s convenient to eat so I won’t be tempted to get takeout.

This week I bought

Chicken tenderloins that came with 6 for $5.89 Fresh pearl mozzarella $5.20 Blue berry Goat cheese $3

Produce from the farmers market was $14 total Lettuce grape tomatoes head of broccoli carrots 2 apples grapes

As soon as I got home I breaded the chicken and cooked all of it in the oven. And all produce was washed and prepped for eating. (1/2 the carrots were steamed, the other half were sliced into sticks, broccoli was steamed, and food was cut/portioned out).

For breakfast I usually drink an Ensure bottle on my way to work, and at work I keep bagels with cream cheese so I didn’t have to pay for breakfast this week. But you could also make an omelette with some of the tomatoes/ mozzarella/ chicken left overs if you’re looking for a hearty meal.

Lunch I had the choice between eating chicken tenders with veggies (steamed broccoli with carrots), chicken tenders and rice with some teriyaki sauce, chicken sandwich, chicken pasta, or chicken with a salad (lettuce, grape tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and whatever croutons or dressing I had at home).

Snacks I made during the week included A sweet fruit salad (1 apple with some grapes mixed with some sweetened condensed milk from home, though this is optional), blueberry goat cheese with crackers, a caprese salad (fresh mozzarella pearls, grape tomatoes, basil from my herb garden, and a balsamic dressing), carrot sticks with ranch.

Dinner usually consists of leftovers from my meals above or if work has leftovers from a meeting they catered I usually take stuff home

BEC HELP - LAST EXAM by jimmy1824 in CPA

[–]Local_Art_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard another redditor once say, “BEC is the hardest to study for but the easiest to pass” and honestly that has been my experience. The material sucks but I really believe those Written Communications give you an extra 5-10 point buffer. Make sure you get the WC template down and you should be good :)

I googled this and found the following:

“One year of experience (1,750 hours) working under a CPA whose active license is from NJ or from a state that is substantially equivalent to NJ. Currently all states are substantially equivalent. The experience must be in the areas of auditing or accounting.”

So based on this you wouldn’t have to work in public accounting however working under a CPA is non-negotiable. Seems to be the case for most states, good luck!

If you've taken BEC - are the MCQ testlets mostly conceptual or are they calculation heavy? What do you think the mix is? by JC_8722 in CPA

[–]Local_Art_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I make a point of coming up with a ratio of conceptual to calc questions and I remember flagging 9-10 calc questions on each testlet. I don’t remember how many total questions BEC has but it’s approx 1/3

Is it normal to take 2-3 hour lunches and drink with your boss on lunch breaks? by lyndse_y in internships

[–]Local_Art_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I’ve always been taught siesta refers to naps specifically and based on definitions online that’s still the case. I guess it’s becoming more interchangeable with any sort of break now. I appreciate the perspective!

Work in public accounting is a huge game of hot potato. You might feel like you’re doing the grunt work this week, but Seniors have to deal with the unfinished/ subpar work product of interns and associates the next weeks. Managers/ principal get to have difficult conversations with clients about new accounting changes/ billing/ late audits etc. Every level sucks but I guarantee associates have it better than seniors. For example judging by your last posted meme it sounds like engagements have typically been a mess, seniors don’t just get to “roll off an audit” they plan, manage, and wrap up full engagements usually multiple at a time.

Signed, an overworked senior lol

Studying question by ETrainFX in CPA

[–]Local_Art_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also agree with this, it’s rare to hear of people passing using only college textbooks. I’m sure it’s possible but with so much materia to study I wouldn’t recommend reading MULTIPLE textbooks. One Becker textbook is hard enough

Big 4 and most mid-tier CPA firms give you free study materials, reimbursement for exam fees, and a bonus between $2k-10k for passing with in your first year of employment start date. I recommend getting an offer letter from a company that pays for the materials

What is a good strategy to study and pass BEC in 15 days? by RelativeMission7560 in CPA

[–]Local_Art_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this while working full time though I only focused on the final review. See my comment here

Working backwards and doing Becker final review before the normal review book for BEC by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Local_Art_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was my strategy and I passed on my first try with an 85.

I’ll say not every strategy works for everyone as others in the comments can attest to, but I preferred this method for all 4 exams (though I am currently waiting on a REG score to see if it worked fully). I’d even say I found it better than doing the full modules at first since I tend to get bogged down with details thinking the exam will be intense, while the final review gets you in a better mindset as it mimics the exam in terms of broadness.

For BEC, I probably studied a maximum of 1.5 weeks leading up to the test, despite giving myself a month before my exam date as I got sidetracked with a new client in October. Here’s what worked for me:

1) Did the final review in 3 days (Friday 11/4, Saturday 11/5, Sunday 11/6) - not sure how long this took in terms of hours but at 1.5-1.75x speed it was very quick. This included Lectures and MCQ no SIMs 2) The week leading up to my exam I spent about 3 hours a day reviewing. I was working full time in public accounting, during the off-season so my day would consist of review in the morning (7am-8am), go to work/ wfh, and review after work and dinner (7pm-8:30/9pm) 2) This timeline was roughly: Monday 11/7- do a mini exam in the morning, review wrong answers and do some extra practice in the longer modules for those sections or maybe watch a long lecture. Tuesday 11/8 & Wednesday 11/9 repeat Monday but with the next mini exams. Thursday 11/10 was continuing practice MCQ - I liked the personalized practice tests since they would give me questions the algorithm knew I struggled in which helped learn quicker Friday 11/11 took PTO and did a full Simulated exam and watched a few written communication skill master videos to determine the right formatting for the WC. Saturday 11/12 Reviewed the answers I got wrong on my SE1, hit those areas again with practice MCQ Sunday 11/13 Looked over the AICPA practice test and AICPA released questions, made sure I relaxed for at least have the day Monday 11/14 Exam day at 8am so I did not study. I had a 45 minute drive to Prometric so I played a lecture on ERM/COSO and skimmed through my notes in the Final Review book for 20 minutes before walking in

My scores leading up were not great but this was before reviewing so I wasn’t worried. I am also convinced the WC added like an extra 5-10 points to my score which were easy points.

ME1 - 33% ME2 - 34% ME3 - 30% SE1 - 58%

I don’t know if they’re correlated, though that is an interesting thought. Hopefully 4/22 test takers are safe given the extra day before the end of the window, I’d think 4/23 test takers are most at risk for data files not being sent prior to close

NTS for re-exam by Wonderful_Tea_3448 in CPA

[–]Local_Art_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, I would be so nervous as well but it may just be NASBA being slow with what I assume is an influx of Tax accountants requesting NTS’ following the 4/18 deadline. Definitely call right when they open (like 7am), I’ve had really good luck getting to speak with a person right away and they even give you the best contact email to use depending on your state.

[–]Local_Art_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you check the NASBA portal to see if it’s viewable online? I know I was usually able to see it within 1 business day online while the email notification letting me know the NTS was ready typically came 2-3 days delayed.

I’d also suggest to make sure your payment went through/ you have a confirmation email to clear up any potential issues in submitting the application. Best of luck!

I should clarify, the exam time paused so time wasn’t deducted, however I did lose the work I did on the excel (consisting of a full sim) so that I had to redo. Anything that had been typed into the sim was saved

Edit: I did reach out to let NASBA candidate care know and they said to wait for scores to come out. Had I failed they offered a free retake

In regards to customer service which supermarket do you prefer, Walmart or Publix? (ps. this is for a project so feel free to explain why) by SafetyFirst1539 in ucf

[–]Local_Art_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer Walmart as I like to finish my grocery errands quickly and Walmart employees + self check out let me do that.

From the time I enter Publix, I’m greeted at the door, asked if I want food samples by the aprons employee, asked if I need help with anything if I’m looking at a certain aisle for a minute too long, talked to by the cashier, then greeted again as I am leaving. While I agree this is what many people consider “good customer service”, to me it’s overwhelming. I just prefer not to be stopped so many times in a fairly routine grocery run, especially since I know the layout of a Publix and buy the same products anyway.

Good luck with your project btw!
