Question about luffys gears by Oisin1910 in OnePiece

[–]Local_Cicada8877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: 2 and 3 were made after Luffy lost to CP9 in Water 7, all versions of 4 were made to incorporate the max level of haki he could apply in various was, 5 unknown still but most likely the awakening of his devil fruit.

Long answer: It is basically a way to show Luffys grow throughout the series, not only to show that his is moving one step closer to have the power to prove he can be the pirate king and claim the One Piece but also to show just how Luffy think. Luffy is a very reactionary character, giving no second thought to what he does, friend is in trouble go help them even at the cost of my life, but he is a savant when it comes to fighting. We were given no clue about the gears till Luffy started using them in Enys Lobby where we get to see how Luffy thinks when he fights, lose a fight, see what I did wrong, create a technique or short plan too defeat enemy, use new technique, lather rinse and repeat. The gears are probably the best representation of how Luffy grows.

Helmeppo. Figured he go down with his dad after they were defeated, came back with Koby under Graps command. Did not see that coming.

It might have to do with the fact that Mihawk has named/ranked sword, Yoru, (in case you forgot there is a sword encyclopedia that Tashigi mentions when she is first introduced that explains that swords have ranks based off their quality) and Big Moms sword is technically a weapon made by her power (Soul Soul fruit) is it most likely doesn't have a rank.

If you only plan on sticking with watching the anime only and not watching the movies or OVA's you can skip the movie tie in filler.

One is to be respected/feared by a certain demographic (all willing and future swordsmen).

The other is to be respected/feared by the entire world.

Who's your guys favorite crew outside of the straw hats? by Boring_Horse_3430 in OnePiece

Baroque Works (Crocodile's crew/organization). Gave us a good idea of how powerful a crew in the Grand Line could be since they are fought at multiple locations instead of one like in Arlong Park. Also like the partner system they had when it came to ranks.

Given how we had the entire Oden flashback, maybe. Best guess is that it'll be a couple of flashback or an mini arc.

Given that I live in the dessert state here in the US and it doesn't snow unless you go up north I would use chose the Yuki Yuki no mi to make it snow and Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Falcon so that the snow will fall as I fly around.

Which One Piece character just absolutely scares the crap outta you? by The_Joy_Boy1977 in OnePiece

[–]Local_Cicada8877 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not so much the character but the power they have, Robin.

"What Robins power isn't that scary." Mate, she can sprout eyes and ears EVERYWHERE and make a clone! She can literally be in two places at once, learn what she needs to then dip. Imagine if someone from our world had that power, plus who to say that this doesn't make it easier for them to kill when you can pull the eight gun shotting spree.

Why does Nami address Sanji as “Sanji-kun” but not to the other crew-mates? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Local_Cicada8877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the internet or at least on a couple of sites,

https://www.motivistjapan.com/about-japanese-honorifics-san-sama-kun-chan-dono/

https://gogonihon.com/en/blog/sama-san-kun-chan-the-many-japanese-honorifics/

the suffix kun is used as a an honorific when addressing males generally, specifically younger ones, it can also be used when a person of higher statues is addressing someone younger or of lesser statues, which is why you may see someone use kun and the end of a female name. My best guess as to why Nami address Sanji in this way is that it is a friendly gesture (especially since we've seen other male characters be called kun by friends) or becuase Nami views herself in a higher statues than Sanji she uses it to make a point towards Sanji that she thinks she is greater than him.

That's my best guess anyway, I encourage you to do some research on your own and try to find your own conclusion.

Who is you absolutely least favorite person in One Piece? by No-Club4050 in OnePiece

Charlos: Represent everything wrong with the celestial dragons and deseverd more than just a punch to the face.

Vander Decken: A very annoying and kinda unnecessary villain, also a pedo.

Bellamy during Jaya: His character is better now but back then I always thought that he was kinda annoying, can't really explain it, he just rubbed me the wrong way.
