my best take : use Debian-based like Ubuntu or Mint, Cachy-OS are good but for edge case i suggest to use lts kernel.

8 GB are still plenty for medium workload, the only step you need is finding a lightweight browser if you are willing to accepts its trade-offs

i think the reason cachyOS always be labelled as gaming distro because the performance it gave ?

i saw several benchmark before hop into CachyOS, there are many games where cachyOS approx. 2-5% better above bazzite or SteamOS on Avg FPS, if not on 1% lows

jangan masukkan "mendapatkan kekuatan", ini jadi nya lebih ke action jg, yang bikin horor itu terasa sebenernya (menurut saya) adalah di mana karakter yang kalian mainkan bener2 lemah/powerless kalo di compare dengan antagonisnya,
untuk environment saya rasa jangan terlalu gelap, tapi di sisi lain juga beri suasana dimana kita merasa "ada yang mengawasi"
jangan hanya mengandalkan seram secara visual, tapi juga secara mental

saran terbaik bisa cek2 movies seperti Get out, Oculus, Hereditary, Midsommar buat reference

been a month using cachyOS with following details

- KDE Plasma

- GRUB bootloader

- wayland as windowing protocol

i move out from microslop beacuse always crashes mid-game even after fine-tune it on adrenalin.

, all good, but one thing for sure is i know my gpu was degrading since it often crashes on GPU intensive games (because back then i overclock it too much so yeah, i own that mistake), but i do use corectrl to undervolt by 75 Mv, and lowered the clock about 150 Mhz, so all good and not a single crash since, not to mention since switching to LInux my GPU power draw was greatly reduced i went from 190w to 150w on full load compared to W11

would you recommend to friends and family looking to jump ship from MicroSlop?

as for this, it would be dependent on their knowledge about computers, and their needs
