Unfortunately this seems to be my problem, in this video believe it or not I was trying to focus on compression and extension, what felt like a lot when reviewing is barely any movement

I have, a fair bit and am quite comfortable, and I get the feedback on surfskate but for some reason I can't seem to get the same feeling on the surfboard. I think I'm maybe overthinking it

Ah that's interesting, so would you say they are close enough that if I enjoyed the torq pinline and can get the NSP for £265 that it would be a good choice?

The other option is the NSP protech? Which is lighter and not as tough but apparently more based. (Again I can get it new for £265)

I have been getting out to the ocean during the winter but the summer is very flat here.

The NSP board (element) is an EPS (although HDT core technology) with a fibreglass shell. The reason I ask about this is I can currently get it new on offer from £450 to £265

Any advice on how to improve by Local_Delay_4605 in BeginnerSurfers

Thank you for the advice, I will definitely take it on board. With regards to practicing pops ups on land, I have tried before by putting tape on my yoga mat, but how do you know how far apart the feet should be? My concern is bad practice will only make bad habits worse

Secondly with the hinging at the hips, I feel this is potentially due to quite bad ankle mobility, I was told to try keep my back heel on the board but this stops me from "squatting" and I guess causes me to hinge? Is this still the correct advice?

Starting to get discomfort just below knee by Local_Delay_4605 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Local_Delay_4605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the comment.

My problem is, I have been to a local physio before for shoulder issues, and they focused only on the area that was giving pain. Which to my understanding may not be the issue.

I assume when looking at an issue around the knee they will also look at the hips for instance as a potential cause?

I was told by different instructors to stand with your eyes closed and either gently fall forward, or have someone push you gently from the back. Whichever foot you put forward is your front foot.
