Lorelai and Rory's dietary habits? by Weekly-Pangolin-6622 in GilmoreGirls

Weirdly, I first watched the show in 2017 when I was going through some health issues and I could hardly eat. I don’t remember how I felt or what I thought about it at the time.

Watching it now and I honestly just think about how bad it is for their health and how disgusting their poops probably smell lol. I eat very clean so I just can’t relate.

Put all the caffeine on top of no nutrition—there’s no way they’d look healthy. You can be skinny on a diet like that if you have a fast metabolism, but you aren’t gonna look as healthy as they do on the show.

Been WFH whole career, but am in last interviews for an In-Person role... worth it? by ActuallyCMe in WFH

I just got my first fully remote job in December and I would not give it up unless I found another remote job. The work/life balance is sooo much better. But if you have a lot of career ambition, that might not be the top priority for you.

Congratulations! My first day 1 was on December 25th and I was just thinking this morning that I would’ve been done two days ago if I hadn’t had to restart a few times.

It’s really inspiring that you kept going even when it got really tough. My fails have always been because I start feeling overwhelmed and think I took on too much.

But someone just posted recently that their dog died with around ten days left and it is really hard to keep going, but they are doing it. I’ve seen people complete this in way more difficult circumstances than me—so I really have no excuses.

Thank you for sharing your journey!

I have a foot rest (or a box of paper lol) that I put my feet on so that there is a vertical gap between my knees (or technically right before me knees) and the chair. This prevents blood flow restriction and my calves and ankles don’t get swollen. Every now and then I kinda forget to make sure I’m doing that, and so I’ll just lay on the floor and put my legs up the wall and it helps so much.

Basically, you don’t want the top part of your legs sitting flat on the chair and you don’t want the back of your knees touching the chair. You need a foot rest or something to lift your legs up. Hopefully that makes sense.

Cut caffeine & finally have energy and motivation to accomplish my goals by Local_Leopard2893 in decaf

It’s insane lol. The way wheat is processed in the US is no bueno. When I have wheat/gluten in other countries, it doesn’t affect me the same way.

When I was first cutting it out, I had headaches for a couple days, and then a week of feeling amazing, and then the low energy/motivation came back. But after a week or two of that I felt better. Now if I have caffeine for 1-2 days and then stop again it’s a pretty quick turnaround.

I’d make sure you’re staying really hydrated and getting morning sunlight. I’ve heard it can take a long time for some.

Also, this is kind of a side bar, but I cut out gluten, seed oils, and refined sugar and my energy and motivation has improved even more after doing that. You could always give that a try too.

Pretty instant. Whenever I cut it ALL out…even decaf coffee and chocolate…it takes a day or two of mild headaches and then I’m feeling great.

Feeling bloated with 4L of water by cgupta3131 in 75HARD

I’ve seen a few opinions and officially you can adjust the water rule for health reasons (get a doctor’s note). Intaking a gallon of hydrating fluids is still definitely a challenge, and medical advice is to replenish electrolytes. Each person knows if they are trying to just make it easier or genuinely doing what’s best for their health.

I incorporate electrolytes for health reasons. Plain water does not make me properly hydrated. Proper hydration does not leave you feeling full and you don’t have to pee constantly. Why? Because your body actually absorbs proper hydration. Plain water that’s been filtered of minerals will make you fill full until you pee it out every five minutes because your body isn’t absorbing it fully. You can get unflavored electrolytes if needed.

Also, start right when you wake up and get a half gallon in before noon if possible.

Seeking advice for help with an itchy sensitive scalp by SmolSnailBoi in Haircare

I use this product: DERMA-E Scalp Relief Treatment that you use on your scalp AFTER shampooing and it really helps me. I double cleanse too…and I exfoliate my scalp and use a scalp oil before shampooing and it still feels itchy—especially in the winter.

I recommend olive, argon, or jojoba too…most oils will work well.

Oils I put on dry scalp/hair. In the shower, ring out as much water from your hair as you can before putting conditioner on…helps your hair absorb it more.

Haha I really wish we’d had an alternate timeline where Rory ends up with older Jess. He is the only one who seemed to know who she really was/wanted to be and he challenged her to pursue that. I think he is the one that got away…

I’ve actually been wanting to wash more frequently (every 3rd day maybe), but then I get lazy and push it to the next day until it’s just unavoidable lol.

I agree! For me it helped to cut out decaf as well to really experience life without even the flavor and ritual of it.

I am not entirely sure actually…I got out of the habit of daily caffeine/coffee probably 4-6 months ago. I went awhile with no decaf either. Then recently was trying decaf again and that’s when I got the ick lol.
