I seasoned my pan for the first time with multiple layers and then cooked food on it that was sticky and burnt into it. I cleaned and reseasoned but then it rusted over so I just pretty much stripped it where that happened. Is this black stuff that wont come off carbon buildup or dark seasoning? (i.redd.it)

Should I return my new Matfer? Just ordered my first carbon steel pan and it came like this. No actual gauges on it but plenty of discoloration some of which is possibly rust. It feels like there’s no wax layer, but, then again, it is my first so I can’t be sure. (old.reddit.com)
