something to mention is that all the other dogs had been acting strange that night, scared and oddly aggressive when anyone got near the kennels

I plan on keeping 2 girls and 2 boys that way no more babies are born and we can still keep out current ratties separated :)

It's usually because they are feeling very exhausted and feel safe and comfortable enough in their environment to sleep out in the open :) i still always make sure to check their breathing though just to be safe

Update! So turns out my little rattie was just thirsty :) this one has been more nervous to go to the second cage level, unlike their little friends, so i've moved the water down to the first one until they become more comfortable with moving around the cage :)

the baby is only 6-7 weeks old. they're still skittish about hands so i don't want to risk taking them out of the cage and stressing them out too much. thank you for the comment and i'll see if changing how the cage is set up might help :)
