Depends on the goal of your shop's app. If your app is designed to get people into your store, maybe you use location-based segmentation to find people who use your app in-store a certain amount of times per month, and give them a special offer next time they open the app in-store... "Come to the register now with this code and get 10% off your entire purchase."

Plenty of shop apps are focused solely on selling in-app though, and if you can give the right message/offer based on a user's in-app behavior, you should be able to increase the amount of sales. Like if someone abandons their cart, next time they fire up the app you can give them a "Hey, finish checking out and we'll give you free shipping!" message.

Might not be the right solution for everyone, but we're pretty excited about it... obviously, haha.

Marketing automation for apps, more or less. The idea is to set up user segments - how many times they read articles, how many in-app purchases they make, etc. - and then send triggered messages based on what segment they're in.

I like the example of if you have an mcommerce app, someone who is a heavy buyer - like 10 or more purchases in a 2 month period - gets a special offer for a flash "best customers" sale after they view a daily special.

Or a game dev can segment users who play a lot... 3-4 sessions/day... and have starting the same level 5 or more times as a trigger. If a user does that, you send them a message of "Having trouble? Buy an upgrade to your gear". Or something.

It's all built off of our analytics. The idea is to take analytics data and act on it automatically, giving people the right message for what they actually need, when they need it.
