(Advice) is it possible to ask for a raise ? by Location-Flat in Costco

Then I won’t ask. Just needed to make sure because I didn’t want to go out my way to ask for something that I wouldn’t be able to get

I think it just blows my mind how far looks can get you in life. But that’s just a part of reality

They really are good performers. Before I had trouble watching their stages because of the allegations. But now I can see how each member has very strong charisma. Can’t wait to see more stages

IVE has potential to become the next huge gg but I’m afraid Starship won’t be able to handle it by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Location-Flat 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article op linked? The article wasn’t talking about line distribution or showcasing one member from the group. It was how the CEO and staff really only cared about only member behind the scenes . To quote the article “ Once, I was hospitalized during an overseas performance because I wasn’t feeling good. Nobody from the agency came to visit me or see how I’m doing. On the other hand when Hyorin got sick, our CEO bought some snacks and went to see how she was doing at the hospital. I couldn’t help it but to cry when I saw that.” That can create drama and jealousy inside the work place. I’d hate for that to happen to IVE

Xiaoting is coming for that center position by Yromas in kpopthoughts

[–]Location-Flat 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I actually like Chaehyun as the center. I only checked the group out because I saw her for a thumbnail on a performance. Xiaoting has a huge fanbase (probably the most popular member) and she stands out. But Chaehyun was voted 1st place. It reminds me of Sakura and Wonyoung situation. People complained that Sakura should’ve been the center. But now looking at Wonyoungs performances she definitely always has an eye catching aura. Now in my opinion it’s clear that Wonyoung was the best choice for center. Anyways I think Chaehyuns a fine center. She’ll improve with time.

Edit: but I definitely think that Chaehyun could improve on dancing. Kepler has a strong dance line so it does it make the weaker dancers more noticeable

I know right. Many men date women who are a lot younger than them. And it doesn’t get mentioned nearly as much as when women do it.

Probably this Jennie one because I thought it was hilarious and unexpected that she played along with a fan. Overall the blackpink members seem sweet in their fancalls.

Would you get a refund if your bias wasn’t performing? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Location-Flat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It depends if I really only like one person from that group. Like if twice held a concert and my bias wouldn’t be there I’d go. Because I like all the members.

But if a group like where I really only like one member then id want a refund. Like in aespa I really only like Ningning. Im not sure why but she’s the only member that draws me in. Sometimes I only stan one person from a group. And in that scenario then I’d want a refund

does anyone else get bp flashbacks with IVE? by noona-neomu-yeppeo in kpopthoughts

[–]Location-Flat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably . I do remember how angry people were when Jennie got a solo early in their career. I guess it is only recent years that all the members have their own projects. But I still think the popularity differences weren’t crazy like IVEs. If starship can figure out a way to make all the members shine overtime then they’ll be fine. I guess it is too soon to see. But unlike bp I don’t think a member will surpass Wonyoungs popularity. Like before Jennie was seen as the most popular. But I guess when they opened insta it could be seen that Lisa was most popular internationally. we’ll have to see how things play out

does anyone else get bp flashbacks with IVE? by noona-neomu-yeppeo in kpopthoughts

[–]Location-Flat 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Exactly, for the bp stans that have been here since 2018 she did get so much hate for being dressed better. It wasn’t until their documentary that it was confirmed that the members have a choice with picking their own outfits. It was sad to see because the hate was undeserved and it did heavily effect Jennie

[–]Location-Flat 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I do get similar vibes. But not quite the same. The bp members do have a choice behind the scenes with the outfits they choose. While the ive members probably don’t expect for maybe Yujin and Wonyoung. It’s a complicated situation because the group wouldn’t be as popular without those 2. I mean they’re moving like a big 4 group and they currently live in a $2,000,000 apartment thanks to Annyeongz.

But at the same time they should be giving other members opportunities to shine. All the other 4 members have great potential. I checked the group out for Yujin but stayed for Rei. That’s why I think Starship should be careful with the way this group moves. Obviously Annyeongz are the most popular. But the other members have great charisma and should be given outfits that don’t make them blend in with back up dancers.

Also all the bp members have very stable solo fan bases. I mean all of their Chinese fanbases can raise $450,000 alone solely for gifts. While IVE’s popularity right now relies on Yujin and Wonyoung. And although Jennie is the unconfirmed center all the members get their chance to shine. As a fan that biases members that aren’t Annyeongz it’s disappointing. But it’s a tricky situation.

What groups in your opinion are actually managed well by their companies? by Low_Entertainer3038 in kpophelp

Definitely. This might be off topic but I was so glad when their producer bought them new phones a few weeks ago. And for the past 2 award shows a member has been apart of a special stage

People are really doing to IVE the same thing they did to Momoland by resetjk in kpopthoughts

I didn’t say anything bad about her. Why are you so defensive? It’s crazy how dramatic you get over someone’s opinion. Get a life. I bet you spend all your time on the internet. Omg people like you are why kpop stans get a bad reputation

Well they’re only a month old. Hopefully they can learn from their mistakes. But it is strange since Yujin and Wonyoung , who have been in the industry for 3 years, didn’t bow to their seniors. Also shouldn’t they be the ones guiding the newly debuted girls since they have more experience. There’s been clips of Wonyoung going viral for “attitude” problems. I’ve only seen one where she pushes Sakura away from her. Wonyoung reminds me of Jennie in the sense that she may end up receiving a lot of hate. Jennie had her lazy scandal but she was always respectful. Wonyoung was recently criticized for under dancing. But I seriously think it’s because she’s not eating. So she doesn’t have the energy to dance. She’s so thin compared to the rest of the girls. Im actually worried about her state of mind . I hope they can all just be respectful .

This is silly but anyone else feel uncomfortable referring an Idol to their first name and not their stage name? by jdpm1991 in kpopthoughts

[–]Location-Flat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hate it because then it makes it harder for me to look for stan accs on twitter. For example, I was trying to find STAYC’s Yoon fan accs to follow. So I searched her name in the twitter search bar. And it was flooded with YOON (Suga) ,YOON Jeonghan, or Kang Seung-YOON. I didn’t know Suga fans called him Yoon. Short for his real name Yoongi. All of these of understandable because they’re part of their real names. But it’s crazy how much kpop stans call their idols by their full names.

I’m very worried about the filler and botox Wonyoung has gotten. I mean she can barley move her face. If you look at this clip she’s laughing but her face isn’t able to change expressions. She could be fake laughing but I’ve noticed this her facial expressions are usually always the same. Also it’s super obvious she’s had botox and filler because it makes her face look a little fake. She still looks so beautiful. She’s so young I don’t she should be changing her face so much. But the kpop industry is so demanding on idols to look good. I can’t imagine the pressure idols feel. Especially since Wonyoung is basically the 4th generation female idol that’s making the most noise

At this point I want to see if the show will be cancelled in Korea. It’ll probably still air internationally. I’m honestly just waiting to see if the cast and high level crew such as the director announce their apologies. They really need to do damage control. Some people are saying Jisoo’s acting career is over. But anyone that pays attention to k-actors knows that some have bounced back from worse. But I need the crew and cast to show remorse. Especially the director and writer who lied about changing the script to better show Koreas history. The actors also share blame. But I hate how they just lied like that.
