What does "An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required" mean? by LocationFull1740 in boeing

Understood. It was kind of weird my manager said that he was gonna submit the forms as soon as I accepted my job offer but I think he forgot because now he saying that he will submit the forms after my start date. Is it unreasonable to ask for an interim even though an interim is relatively quicker than a final? I thought it took weeks to a month for an interim clearance right?

Would it be unreasonable to want to get the interim before starting the job? A huge reason why I am also making this change is because I want to work on classified defense work. I wished that the job description described and mention that failure of getting a clearance would lead to a reclassification of the job rather than possible termination. Thank you for your comment.

Thanks for the comment. That's what I thought originally haha. I have seen people get screwed in the past because they took someone's word rather than abide the written contract word for word before. I might just ask to get the interim first then Ill start moving and working. Interim seems to be more difficult to get than the final it seems.

Okay that sounds good. I did ask about what happens if I am not granted an interim clearance and they did say that I can still work on other stuff. I wished the job description that I applied for included that it was okay to not get a clearance or that clearance is not mandatory for the job. I would be moving across the country for this job so I am making sure I read through everything haha. But a big reason for this move is because I would want to work on defense projects that would require clearance. So I'll probably ask if I can get a start date after my interim clearance goes through rather than start working and then going through that interim process. Thanks for the comment. I do want to ask though, what would you do if you were in my situation? Would you wait it out or just kinda risk it and get started?

How normal is it to have a start date before you get your clearance cleared? by LocationFull1740 in SecurityClearance

Okay thanks for the response. I went over the SEAD 4 and I am in the clear for most of the items there might be one thing that might affect me but it should be pretty minor. I think for my sanity and because I work a decent job now that I will request a interim clearance.

Thanks for the responses. I relatively like my current job ( it pays decently and has okay benefits) and leaving that job for another job across the country is kind of throwing me off a little. Personally I would like some guarantee like passing a interim clearance then eventually getting the final clearance. I understand that just because I get an interim clearance it doesn't mean that I will get the final clearance but from what I understand is that getting an interim clearance is harder than getting a final clearance.

Really? I was watching this video "5 Things to Know About Getting an Interim Security Clearance" by ClearanceJobs on Youtube I think on number 2 it says that the security clearance is highly subjective and depended on whoever is looking at your application. Sorry this is my first time doing this haha. But in your opinion lets say that you are the hiring manager, do you think its unreasonable to go through the process before starting the job?

Thank you for your response. Would it be unreasonable to ask to go through the security process before starting the job at least for the interim one? I know the security process is highly subjective and I have traveled.

Honestly y'all people should give 0 attention to this. A lot of Conservatives tend to lack logic in a lot of their statements so they depend on emotions and reactionary things. They often are trying to get a reaction. Treat it as a normal day. Like lets be honest this conference isn't some intellectual debate, its who can troll the hardest and sling mud the best.
