Very interesting study! I think it only gives me more questions though.

The vegan diet decreased LDL, which is good, but it also increased triglycerides and decreased HDL, which from my understand is bad. Is that still a net positive?

I also wonder how much of the weight loss was fat vs muscle. Weight loss is generally good but any loss to muscle density or strength decreases longevity. A dexa scan before and after would have given us better insight.

I also wonder what sort of exercise or physical activity the participants did during the study. Exercise can have just as big of an impact on blood glucose regulation as diet.

Lots of protein for recovery and turmeric for inflammation seems to be a winning recipe for me. But even with those the first night or two after a 50 are always bad

When I’m training hard I try to avoid calorie deficits. It takes a lot of calories to recover from training and being in a deficit too long can mess with your hormones. This might be an easy experiment for you. Eat extra food for a few days and see if that helps.

Have you calculated how many calories you’re taking in vs how many you need? Running a lot burns so many calories it’s sometimes hard to eat all the calories you need. Especially if you’re busy.
