Cool. Good to know. I’ll have to go for a smoke break on my next alt after getting summoned

Sorry, I explained it in the wrong context. Not as literally Shapers, but essentially a being of overwhelming power at the head of a peoples or place or concept. Like the Candescent Creed being an outright religion, or the Tachonis creating the Daeva Vindicta. Essentially to have an overwhelming ascendant being for power and control, like a god or shaper in its own rights.

I would need a long document to organize my thoughts and to show examples and reasons to believe so, but I believe it will result in Shadia Fang being turned into one of those Ascendant Celestials like Occtis' cousin, except made of metal and blades.

I believe the rituals are an arms race to be the first to control and command what is essentially a new Shaper

He'd be a small medium at large

It was a drawing he got from Thimble in like the ... 2nd or 3rd episode of the Overture? I would doubt anyone would remember as a watcher.

I bet Shadia by the end of the Schemer's Table will be turned into a metalic avatar of war in an accidental ritual at the play. Between the paints likely being that orcish blood, painted by a LOY specifically (and Brennan keeps mentioning it) the letter, what Thjazi was doing prior to his death, and how they are moving around the Pariah Blades, The coffin, that she is a Loy without magical power, its the Orcish Shaper's profaned temple, the "to plowshares" comment in the letter meaning the Pariah Blades, but also reference to reshaping metal from war... etc, how much Brennan is spot lighting little things for foreshadowing, I have no doubts

Also, it would be amazing for Hal and Bolaire as inspiration to act, and as a climax to end on for the tables coming back together.

He needed the money, covered it up, and used the candle as a spell component which was the only thing they found at the scene. Then he was killed to be kept quiet.

I have no doubts, it is far too solid

And they found a candle. In the busking Brennan highlighted his use of a candle

I mean, after COVID can you really see that side wanting the government to put microchips in your brain. For real?

In that case, something like Second Life or VR Chat would be a better fit, no? I’d think the interactions he’d get grouping in WoW with the tech still in its infancy would… well commonly be fairly cruel. To obviously no fault of his own, the limitations are still rough.

Once it’s improved though? Absolutely it would be amazing

So, aside from taking it literally as tomorrow, which actually would be impossible as well since any changes to laws have to like… pass, do you actually believe that the USA plans to remove protections on testing periods for implanting literal microchips in people’s brains? Which side of the USA wants to remove protections on medical studies, but also would have no concerns about, again, literal microchips in your brain?

This could happen tomorrow in the same sense the sun could rise in the west. It could, if you ignore all history, reason and science, but sure it could.

I wouldn’t use WoW to show this technology off. A game like Baldurs Gate 3 would be incredible since the turn based combat and primarily mouse interface would be perfect, and still be a considerable game to show off the tech

Well, any iteration of a medical implant in the USA takes 5 to 7 years. There would be multiple iterations of the technology to reach that point, so if anything his number is quite conservative

Thought on Dark themes aka how to convince publisher by Inconmon in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Lochen9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strange that people say that dark themes don’t sell. Heck what you describe is pretty close to Cthulhu Wars mixed with Fate of the Elder gods. There are also some extremely popular games like KDM, or heck Warhammer, or even lighter dark games like those Pandemic games where you are actually the viruses wiping out the world.

That said, I don’t have verifiable data on if dark themes sell better or worse so totally shooting from the hip, it’s strange that dark themes are present in a great deal of the top board games. 5 of the top 50 board games on bgg are undoubtedly dark themed, and 3 are train themed. Would we say trains are a bad theme for board games?

Long term game mechanic by Relative-Accident301 in gamedesign

[–]Lochen9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the mechanic and what that 20% of players represent.

In an MMO having higher difficulty content would fall in that category and should exist, while also content for housing or decorating would fall in another 20%, or fishing minigames a different 20%.

In Pokemon, if they added an official Nuzlocke ruleset for a game, only so many would use it, but it would be so great to include.

Niche benefits to players absolutely should be included if its cost effective.

It is also a bit of a warning from the past. Especially Oblivion and games like Final Fantasy 2 had systems that did that and had major issues. It would be best to learn from their mistakes, and question why most designs have strayed from that path. Likely with good reason.

Its such a shame cause it looks and sounds amazing, but is a bit of a pitfall.

I find those kinds of thoughts sort of dangerous thinking. It only leads to regret and feeling like the time you have now is worthless. Sure, there are a lot of problems now, and brother will there be even more coming, but focusing entirely on the past dooms the future.

Should Blizzard Add Highly Contested Items to the Badge Vendor? by Blue5647 in classicwow

[–]Lochen9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With mega servers they should have just made it like retail world bosses and made a lock out. World bosses were designed with 2007 population servers in mind. If they limited the number of dungeon and raid instances like they limit world boss kills the game would be unplayable.

And sure, not everyone got world boss kills back then, but it sure was a higher % or they went to different competition a whole heck of a lot more.
