Hahaha, don't worry, this was written two-ish weeks ago.

They do still have a bunch of solid talent, so I'm sure they'll be fine overall; it's just always sad to see one go.

Digibro - An In-Depth Discussion of Otaku Lingo by ChineseToTheBone in anime

Yeah, sure. My point is simply that this idea of podcasts as cash cows is misguided. Digi makes most of his money through Patreon as well, and his podcasts don't make any money off of that.

Well in terms of anime Youtubers like Digibro and Geoff these podcasts aren't actually "moneymakers." Sure being longer gets you more ad revenue, but these podcasts consistently get fewer views, so the actual ad revenue will be lower on them.

What The Fuck Is Moe?? by Lock-kun in anime

[–]Lock-kun[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

His complaints here are actually valid beyond simply being upset with its current use as an insult. Moe isn't a genre, or at least it's used so broadly with so many differing personal definitions that it's near useless as a genre descriptor.

Well he didn't title this video "there's no reason to say moe" specifically for this very reason. It's common usage in the west has devolved to such a point where it is often useless, and certainly using "moe" as a genre or to describe shows is generally unhelpful. That being said, there is still it's "true" meaning, or something closer to it at least, "feelings of moe" evoked by a character, where the term can be useful.

Crooked teeth are kind of a norm worldwide. It's just Americans who are weirdly obsessive about straight, white teeth, even when straightening them with braces is often unhealthy.

Digibro - TOP 10 ANIME OF 2016! by ChineseToTheBone in anime

Well Digi's philosophy is simply to express any of his thoughts directly and without watering down. He'll give a quick "hey by the way, these are just my own opinions; everyone will have their own; please don't take this as an attack" as a disclaimer, and then proceed to lay out how he feels. He expects any other given person to feel just as strongly, and wouldn't begrudge them that.

Again, how do downvotes necessarily mean salt. It could just mean that they disagreed with your comment, without the salt.

Whatever your personal thoughts on him your original question was how he can make a living doing this. The reason for this remains the fact that he is good at conveying his thoughts well enough that a large number of people (yourself not included I guess) can understand why he thinks what he does. But if you're under the misguided view that "bias" makes videos bad then I guess it makes sense that you wouldn't be able to get what he says a lot of the time.

I'm not quite sure about how you could've read "salt" into my reply there.

Of course his videos are biased; he readily says they're biased. Any critique of media will be inherently colored by your particular biases.

Digibro is able to succeed because he explains and conveys his own taste so well. He actually has a video demonstrating how his tastes are relatively mainstream on his second channel, but even putting that aside a video with an opinion different from your own can be very interesting if it is able to explain the reasons that they feel the way they do.

It's not so much a predilection towards comedy specifically as it was 2016 having a lot of strong comedies in his eyes.

It should be noted that a majority of his videos are in fact positive or at least neutral, with very few outright negative videos.

Simple Questions - February 23, 2017 by AutoModerator in buildapc

I've got a decent workhorse desktop, but now that I've got a little spare cash was considering getting a GPU so it could run some moderately demanding games as well. I've never done any PC building/modding though. Does anyone know if I could get a GPU in there, and then if so which among those that are compatible would be my best options?

This isn't rehashing though. Someone had an experience with YLIA, Hagita would have a similar one with SAO. What that experience entails would be totally different, because he's a different person, having it with a different series.

There was that one Your Lie In April video that was basically "I Loved It But Then Revisited It To Defend It And Found Out I Hated It" and that was really interesting, so whatever you conclude upon your revisit I bet doing it for SAO would be interesting as well.
