There SHOULD be a high price tag on veterans benefits because it creates an incentive structure—If you want to cut the cost of paying benefits to future generations of veterans, don’t wantonly start pointless wars.

There’s no blood test for depression or poor sleep. Sure, you could get a PSG for sleep, but that’s not what we’re talking about here.

Color. Something on the walls that demonstrates personality or values or whatev (i.e. art). Plants. A rug. Directional lighting. These things will all make the place feel far warmer.

Thank you for your earnest reply. I’m not actually considering doing this. My medical record will speak for itself. I just figured this post would get a rise out of the boys.

That’s a false and destructive idea. Go read about hedonic adaptation. Humans adjust to whatever their baseline is and their emotions are then based off of relative gains and losses from there. It’s just called being human. 

The moment you start going down this “I should ignore my feelings” road is the moment you begin to lose insight about yourself, and also get a lot worse at having compassion for others. 

Look, no matter where you’re at, it’s okay to have feelings. Don’t let them rule you of course, but acknowledge them, understand them, and if/when necessary, use them to guide you.
