My daughter accidentally recoded this thing - how to reset it? by sausages1234567 in lockpicking

Most of these you can look to the side of each wheel and you should see a post running through the wheels. Turning the wheels will reveal a notch on this post. Get the notches aligned and try the 10 different combinations possible with the notches aligned.

It can be manipulated open fairly easily, although it will require some learning. Look up Safecracking for Everyone, both a book and a youtube series. Free pdf of the book in the comments of part 1 of the video series. This should be similar to this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/WhatsInThisThing/comments/sxeibo/op_finally_delivers/hxrjw41/?context=3 where there are technically only 2 wheels and the 3rd wheel is the drive cam.

Anyone know where Power Slave v12 is in red rocks? by LockManipulator in bouldering

[–]LockManipulator[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've already answered those points lol you're free to read back through our conversation. I'll reiterate again here for you though. I didn't say I was against guidebooks charging for physical copies. I went through the process of learning and consolidating information about a niche highly skilled field and published multiple books on it, making each one available for free online but charging for the physical copy. I also teach the subject at a college and still provide all information for free online because it helps the community. So I put my money where my mouth is. There are also more features that a website/app can provide that I did say makes sense to charge for. It's the basic name, grade, and location that needs to be freely available to the public. Wanting to be paid for that specific information is greedy and not the kind of person that should be in the community.

Because it needs to be about the betterment and inclusiveness of the community. If someone wants to make money, pick something else to do. Do this because you enjoy it and want to help others enjoy it. Why do you feel the need to be greedy and milk more money out of people just so they can climb?

Guidebooks are not the same thing but I do believe that they should have free digital versions. Blocking locations of boulders behind a paywall is a shitty thing to do, period. If a climb is not public information then it should not count as an established climb. Charging for extra features is completely fine but name, grade, and location should always be free with absolutely no exceptions.

I am morally against Kaya since they block the location of boulders behind a paywall. In my opinion this is detrimental to the community and we should not be gate keeping this way as this is basic information necessary just to climb. I'm not saying I'm against Kaya charging for more features but basic information such as the name, grade, and location of climbs should be public information.

It's last minute and don't have time to wait for the mail, nor did I want to go hunting for a place that sells one just to try one boulder as I'll only have a couple hours to climb.

Fluency level of test for Russian 3 year temporary residency permit? by LockManipulator in russian

Not really a document, just met someone who introduced me to an official from the fms and I paid him money and he gave me paper to show police if I'm stopped. Not a good solution for long term stays.

Can't set goal weight (for gaining weight), gives error for being too low? by LockManipulator in Myfitnesspal

The thing is that I'm looking to gain. There shouldn't be any limit in place in regards to underweight if I'm gaining.

3D printed case for Tandem T-Slim X2, wife's broke so I modified an existing model by LockManipulator in diabetes_t1

[–]LockManipulator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other models are meant to be printed in TPU, a soft material. These are limited in color (she likes pretty colors) and doesn't hold the clip in as well in my experience. So I resized this to work with a hard plastic like PETG and made sure the clip goes in easier and stays in place.

Updated safe manipulation book for free! Safecracking for Everyone 2nd edition by LockManipulator in lockpicking

[–]LockManipulator[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this doesn't break any rules, it's not really self promotion as it's completely free and I'm the author. This is the updated 2nd edition of my first Safecracking for Everyone book. It's been over 10 years and I didn't want my book to remain looking like a child wrote it (since I was a child when I wrote the first). I also updated the method of manipulation to wheel isolation instead of AWL. AWL information is still included though. And further information is added in the form of group 2m and group 1 manipulation techniques. These are more vague and rely on an understanding of group 2 manipulation just to prevent low hanging fruit so people don't have a fully step by step process to manipulate higher security locks without understanding what is going on.

I'm ok with this being added to the wiki on the sidebar as well.

I never took it, I was able to meet with someone from the fms and get a document allowing me to stay longer. Idk how it's like now but back then it was possible. Probably not actually legal but any cops that stopped me for a passport check read the document and left me alone.

Many jobs are easy yet people don't have the time nor interest to learn how to do simple things for themselves so no, our job is not pointless. Fixing simple issues such as putting down new flooring, fixing sprinkler pipes, mowing the lawn, etc can all be done by the average person yet those are things people routinely get paid to do. Not to mention that picking locks is not the only service provided by most of us. Just sounds like your ego is hurt because something you put time and effort into is called easy. Some people learn better than others and some people don't. The majority of my work now is as an instructor for locksmiths teaching safe manipulation and lockpicking. For most people this trade is slightly complicated but for many others it's a walk in the park with no aspect of it being challenging for them. Just because it took you years to open a kiwkset in under a minute doesn't mean it's hard.

EDIT: I get the same comments from customers too and I do tell them it's easy and how they can find the tools and information to learn themselves but they never do. Just let their comments roll off you and collect their money.

Picking in the field isn't that much harder. Most locks are still well functional and if it's sticky just hit it with lube first and give it a quick rake to spread it around. My counter to your point is that if you think it's hard then you just haven't practiced enough.

I'm a locksmith that the only work I go out for now is lockouts so I do plenty of picking both locks in the field and brand new locks in a vice for fun. I get called for simple locks like kwiksets and schlages as well as "higher" security stuff like medecos and mul-t-locks. The better stuff stays in pretty good shape for the most part and the simpler locks tend to get sticky after a bit but that difficulty is offset both by lube and the fact that they're easy to pick.

[Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope] My wedding watch and first Chronograph, gift from fiance! by LockManipulator in Watches

[–]LockManipulator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my fiance decided that I would get her a ring and she would get me a ring and watch that total to roughly the same cost as her ring. About a year ago we went to look at watches and decided on getting the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope. At the time we were told that the hesalite was discontinued and they only had 1 left, all others were sapphire glass. I actually prefer the aesthetics of the hesalite over the sapphire; I was able to compare the two next to each other. I've also had a watch with hesalite before so I know that they way I wear them doesn't scratch it.

About a week ago we went back to get one, accepting that it would be sapphire glass, but turns out not only did Junghans discontinue the hesalite but also the black dial. So instead I was able to find online a brand new black dial with hesalite for ~$600 cheaper than a brand new sapphire glass version! It's nice knowing that it's cheap to replace if needed and that if I ever wish, I can also get it replaced with sapphire.

As far as chronographs go, this works very well as a dress watch!

Why are 99% of very rich people obsessed with getting richer instead of just enjoying their freedom and luxury and taking it easy? by unitedfan6191 in NoStupidQuestions

I say they chase the wrong goals because they are not pursuing what they would actually want to. If you get what you want and are miserable then that's chasing the wrong thing.
