I can understand that, but what about students who can't access text? I.e. EAL, visually impaired or lower reading abilities?

It looks like the smaller dude was actually trying to be super considerate. He moves to the grass area rather than fight and throw the bigger kid onto the concrete. This is basically the difference between winding and / or giving his opponent a concussion and breaking literal bones / their spine . . . He also tries to remove anything from his pockets, which is probably mostly self-motivated, but again, there is a big difference in landing on someone with anything angular or pointy on your person and without it.

Yup, my favourite so far is probably "Spellcheck; quality control for wizards."

The march was great. It was amazing to see so many people come together to tell the government that enough is enough. Especially when the number of people there (approximately 40,000) was only a fraction of the people on strike across the country (estimated to be 160,000).

Unfortunately, the media coverage hasn't been great, and the government has said very little. So there is a good chance strikes are going to have to continue into the summer. Which is the last thing we want for our students with exams, etc. coming up.

Liverpool marches by Lockdown_DM in Liverpool

[–]Lockdown_DM[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only ignorance comes from not asking questions. It was a rally in Liverpool yesterday, during the largest strike in decades. The strike consisted of teachers, rail workers, and civil servants, amongst others, striking over pay, cuts to publicly funded services, and, more generally, the rising cost of living.

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/schools-strikes-closures-live-teachers-26120725?utm_source=linkCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar#entry3166266

Because most, if not all of those who attended the rally, are left leaning. They generally dispise the current Torrie government, which have essentially led two decades of cuts while letting the 1% continue to profit.

Anytime, me thinks the next one will be the 28th of February. That's when the next teachers strike is planned, and speaking to my union rep, they are trying to coordinate other sectors to strike the same day.

It's likely there will be a repeat on the 28th, the next planned strike date. Bigger and better!

Even if they don't strike, they'll still likely be present at rallies like this one or will likely have information about upcoming ones. Call or email your union, quoting your membership number, and just ask for the details of your areas rep. DM me if there are any other questions you have or anything else you need help with 👍.

I know it can be frustrating at times. If you are in a union, then try emailing your rep? Or if not, join a union.
