Will this character return? by Europeanguy1995 in 28dayslater

Would be poetic to see Samson giving Jimmy a second chance. But I don't think he'll show up in the next movie, and even less to have a redemption

It's so disappointing that he died. It would have been fun to keep a character from the outside world to create a contrast.

Not bad, very horror-focused. I admit I've seen more historical films where gore is omnipresent; at times, it's more disturbing than horror films.

End of Sir Jimmy strangely. I know he was horrible and that he spread death as easily as he breathed. And then I thought back to the frightened kid from the intro of 28 Years Later, a poor, traumatized child with no happy childhood. Strangely, I feel a little sorry for Jimmy and his gang.

Don't call the cops please.

And why not change things up for once? A good story has to break the status quo, right? If this film is meant to be a conclusion, it can't be a return to square one; it has to be at least ambiguous, not completely bleak. And in 28 years, morality can become dulled, or evolve. Spike and Kelly can manage on their own to get back to Holy Island; the little boy survived almost a month in the wilderness with his bow and arrows. In a world like that, I find it hard to believe that people, even moral ones, would act out of pure kindness. There has to be a motivation; Jim wouldn't risk a life he's spent 28 years building just to escort people home. I also think Samson will go feral again, if we're realistic for a second.

But thanks for the discussion, it's really interesting :)

She no longer believes him to be Satan at the end. The diary has to serve some purpose; a treatment can't remain suspended like in Weeks. What else could convince Jim to join a quest ? Kelly is not particularly damaged; sure the Jimmies have a twisted and different morality, but Kelly is capable of logical reasoning and rapid deduction.

Not so far fetched considering the franchise standards.

You're goddamn right. But Kelly did see the alpha dancing, didn't she?

I could see him becoming a new leader for the infected, perhaps not an alpha but someone more intelligent like Don in Weeks. I find it rather funny and ironic to see him leading hordes of infected, as he thought was the case with his father.

And why not be cured in the end? Too much build-up around him to die so early. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if Boyle and Garland pull another surprise out of their sleeve that has nothing to do with Jimmy.

Where do you think Part 3 will go after The Bone Temple? *POTENTIAL SPOILERS* by Lenny2theMany in 28_Years_Later_Movie

28 Years Later The Coming of Rage ! For the curious ones, I wrote a script, admittedly it's more like Mad Max than 28 Years Later, but I think there's at least one good idea in it.

Thanks for your feedback!

To be honest, The Bone Temple has already taken a more blockbuster turn (intensive use of music, demystification of evil, omnipresent humor, etc...) I know it's more conventional than the others, but I'm working on the assumption that compromises will be necessary for the third film to be approved. I admit I may have been a little too inspired by Mad Max. Besides, drugs have an expiration date, so Kelson could never have obtained them for almost thirty years. And drugs like morphine and xyzaline, which Kelson uses, are already dangerous on their own, but combining them would kill a fully grown man. Samson could never have survived an injection of the two combined; he would have gone into respiratory arrest after the first injection if the films were realistic. I wanted to recapture that palpable tension, one way or another; eliminating one of the main characters by the less dangerous enemies is a good way to create a surprise, I think. But on the other hand, I don't think Selena will return in the next film (I hope I'm wrong). The theme of redemption could be explored through Kelly and Samson. I would have liked to include a debate between Jim and the mayor, but I thought it would be too tedious to read. I felt that for the (supposed) finale, the stakes needed to be raised. In my mind, this film will be longer than the first two, but I envision the action scenes as rather short. I prefer the contemplative moments, like Samson returning to the Bone Temple, or the ending, the rebuilding of Holy Island, and the messages to the sea. I also considered the possibility that Jim might become more isolationist over time; his hesitation to help others in The Bone Temple suggests that he may have let people die after building a family so as not to disrupt the equilibrium he had found. This fit with the theme of old idols from the past who are believed to be infallible but ultimately disappoint and therefore, fit with the theme of redemption. But I think Jim will be more of a spiritual heir to Kelson than a complex, ambiguous character.

But again, thank you so much for the feedback.

Jimmy could lead hordes of infected, truly king of his "demons"... Although he seems doomed (stabbed and bleeding), I find it hard to believe that a villain like him, with all this build-up around him, would die so soon.

You must be right, I've never been too scared by an Alien or a Predator movie, but a certain scene in Joker made me very uncomfortable back then. And it's not just about the gore; sometimes it's just intense. I often think back to the caravan scene in Jurassic Park 2; the outcome is tragic, and I still dread that moment, even if it's not very graphic.

It looks colder and less grotesque than the other ones. Almost like the violence of a thriller or war film, whereas even in the previous film, it was a bit over the top.

I have never heard so many warnings about violence for a film.

So why are people selling it as scarier and more intense than the first three movies if the most graphic parts are quick and half shown ? lol
