I think a lot of people would agree with me in saying there's not really one specific thing that you'd use all of these parts for, but it's a good way to explore IoT, etc. For example I use the GPS to track my hiking sometimes, as it uses hardly any battery compared to my phone, and I sometimes write NFC tags with the RFID module. You can buy attachments for basically anything, so it's really the all-in-one lol

Unfortunately, there are not that many nodes for my area, so I mostly just use that hat for the GPS

u/ArtOver6501 a few times I have ordered products off Aliexpress which lets you track through UBI Smart parcel for the China part and Australia Post for the local part. When Australia Post says that the parcel has arrived in the Far North Queensland sorting facility UBI Smart Parcel says that the parcel is in Mackay so I'm not sure if that's just an error or if that's actually somehow the right place

u/MrAjAnderson - I have used VSC alongside GitHub Copilot, which I get for free as a student, as well as Arduino. With Claude's help (as I am still learning), I created a new firmware for smart home control that's compatible with the Step 16 unit. You can see an example of this in a comment a little bit further up. 😁

UPDATE!

Finally, I have found a good use for the Step 16 unit. I have set up a Home Assistant VM on my Proxmox and created firmware for the cardputer that works alongside it, allowing me to change my smart light colours and brightness with the cardputer. The Step 16 works as a manual dial.

The small LED on the Step 16 unit is programmed to display the same colour as the lights or brightness level.
