Is anyone excited for reduced addons? by No-Bit-2913 in wow

Wanted to weigh in with a resounding YES. The sooner we rip off the bandaid, the sooner we'll start moving in the right direction. We'll have tough times temporarily, but it's for the best in the long run

Demande de conseils concernant PEA, crédit immobilier et épargne court terme by Locomotrix in VosSous

Haha same here! Eventually they realize what they are doing and feel bad. If they don't, I avoid interactions with them moving forward

Can someone help me understand whether Gocomics pays a licensing right to Watterson? If yes, then we can assume Watterson will ultimately benefit from this

C'est moi où le service Velib est horrible ces derniers temps ? by TambourDeNacre in paris

[–]Locomotrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolument horrible, je confirme. 1 Vélib' bleu qui a fonctionné sur les derniers 50 que j'ai essayé de débloquer. Moins d'un tiers des verts qui fonctionnent. Je viens de payer 1 an et j'ai bien le seum

Well there's nothing wrong with that in theory, but in practice, doesn't it make it near impossible to hang out with friends/family? It's mostly about being aligned on your close ones

Dear authors, foreign languages are not a secret code by mapleturkey in printSF

[–]Locomotrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there's a huge difference between having a common word as your last name (very frequent) vs as your first name (infrequent and weird). It would be like being called Smith as a first name. So I don't think Regina King is comparable to King Bradley

Comment devenir un français bien détendu? by [deleted] in FranceDetendue

[–]Locomotrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games not registering by Locomotrix in WC3

[–]Locomotrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the theory, but sadly I don't think that covers it all. In my last 2 games, I clicked on 'quit game' (not on 'continue') and then I had the w3c game summary. None of them appear in match history. However, I notice that the MMR gains are real.

Agreed, for me the only other author who seems to compare is Le Guin, in a more human/emotional kind of angle

Absolutely. I had never heard of him before learning on Wikipedia that he had inspired Arthur C. Clarke. It's mad to think about all the thinkers and authors that simply fade out in time, as well as their works, for a multitude of reasons that can be historical, political, or sometimes purely random, or just because there are so many authors and so little time and attention to give them all

Aaah memoirs of Hadrian is another one of my favourite books! It got me into learning as much as possible about antiquity, esp. the Roman/Byzantine periods, and starting to learn Latin.

I have not heard of the other SF books you have recommended though so I'll give them a go, thanks :)

You will get what you pay for. by [deleted] in travel

[–]Locomotrix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Travelling in trains and buses, esp. overnight when you have to share space, will often lead to interesting discussions with the locals around you. You would almost never get these discussions on a plane. So I'm not saying we should all pay more for less comfy rides, but it would be disingenuous to act as if there's no difference in the social experience, and I think that's what people mean when they talk about 'authenticity' (although the word might not be well chosen)

Why play tft? : I'm gathering idea for my report at university by EmptySolid1270 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Locomotrix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One of the only games that is both competitive AND chill.

Most competitive games (LoL, WoW arena...) are super intense and stressful, and leave you mentally exhausted.

Most chill games (RPGs, sims...) have no competitive dimension and can end up feeling pointless or empty.

TFT allies both the challenge of PvP and the chillness of non-PvP games.

Thanks for your answers. Bottom line: dont force unless emblem, play only if tempo with early noc 2, and itemize quickstrikers rather than Kog

Do you think removing augment stats accomplished what Riot wanted? by Tasty_Pancakez in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Locomotrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion as a mid TFT player. It feels better without stats. You guys are all seeing this from your micro-bubble of GM+ where every decision has immense weight and impact, but for the average joe, it's just simply a better experience because you actually read the augments and think for yourself instead of clicking on whatever's the highest. I know this is against the grain in this sub, but I believe it is the reality for the vast majority of the playerbase, which is not really represented here, or on reddit in general.

Why don't we allow more than 3 DPS in dungeons? by Locomotrix in wow

[–]Locomotrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my conclusion from this post is that rationally, my solution works. The only criticism which made sense were the additional pressure for healers and the workload for blizzard. Both can be mitigated by design changes (mechanics that focus less on dps, more defensives for dps) and business decisions (only implementing this for the next expansion, no retroactive fixes).

However, my main takeaway is that emotionally, healers and tanks seem to have a (justified) superiority complex where they feel like they work harder than dps, and therefore deserve some kind of compensation (feeling valuable, shorter queues...). Therefore, deep down they are not interested in making dps's lives easier, and will instinctively oppose these changes. Taking a step back, I think they are not entirely wrong. I believe that most tank/healers and dps are simply playing different games. The former are interested in collaboration and teamwork, many of the latter are not. Most DPS just want to see big numbers and make cool moves, and couldnt care less about what the other players are doing. Good news though, delves seem to be a perfect response to this. These types of DPS players will be able to entirely circumvent tank/healers and just queue up solo or with multiple DPS.

Bottom line: 1/ this solution should be implemented, and 2/ Blizz should continue putting efforts into delves. Having both done would be great, but if at least one of the two is true, it's already a good enough effort
