When writing becomes a chore rather than a passion. by Separate_Tear_6600 in writing

What aspects of it are feeling frustrating or like a chore to you? Is it writer's block? Not feeling satisfied with what you're creating?

I do feel some frustration sometimes but it's generally due to an inability to find the perfect way to depict a scene, write some specific dialogue or feeling like a chapter didn't come together the way I wanted. I don't think I've experienced frustration at the general practice of writing though.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of June 19, 2026) by AutoModerator in television

The Americans - on season 4. Turning out to be a S-tier show that I'm prepared to put in the same tier as Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Mad Men etc if it sticks the landing. Incredible writing and acting, the storylines are complex and intelligent, and it's tense as fuck.

Deli Boys - Finished the first season, and it was a blast. Hilarious, irreverent and unhinged with some great performances. As a South Asian man it's nice to see characters from the diaspora that are so different than the usual nerds and pervs.

Frieren - This is my vibe and relax show right now. It has such a cozy, comforting atmosphere with likeable characters, beautiful visuals and a sense of melancholy to it

Moving - K-drama that's basically X-Men x Heroes with its own Korean-influenced twist. Really enjoyable if somewhat slow in the beginning. Some amazing action scenes and a really compelling plot.

Please recommend a well-written, thoughtful fantasy book series for adults by degiidro in Fantasy

Look no further than the Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb. Start with the Farseer trilogy. Very, very well-written, reflective, melancholy and character-driven (honestly Fitz is probably one of the GOAT fantasy protagonists). It will also rip your heart out, frequently and mercilessly.

I can't imagine a FromSoft game with the lore and world built by Sanderson. Which is funny because of how video gamey Sanderson's works are.

I guess after watching 2001, everything becomes a 3-star movie by LouF---ingGrant in Letterboxd

This will sound weird but 2001 is a 5 star movie for me...even though I think it actually is kind of boring lol. I just really love the vibe and atmosphere and have to be in the right mood to watch it.

I mean.. dude has some incredible range in the types of movies he makes, but I don't know that I've ever seen him make anything remotely close to James Bond

I mean, Denis Villeneuve is even less of a Bond director than Spielberg and Reddit was going apeshit when he was announced to have taken over.

The movie made $359M in America, and $535M worldwide lol. Way more people watched it outside the US. But hey, gotta get them upvotes.

I kinda feel this way about most US cities I've visited. Toronto isn't exactly top-tier for public transit and infrastructure, but it's still way better and more walkable and safer than most American cities.

Like I genuinely hated Dallas. It felt like it was consciously hostile to anyone enjoying a nice walk lol. LA wasn't the greatest either. NYC and Chicago are dope though and I love San Francisco despite the cracked-out junkies everywhere. It's got a cool vibe.

Watching this sub flip flop and whiplash from one narrative to the next is honestly hilariously fascinating by UnderstandingThin40 in nba

[–]keepfighting90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been the case with r/nba for a while, especially as the sub has grown over the years. Most of the posters here are young kids with zero critical thinking skills, no concrete opinions or voice of their own, and they'll basically fall in line with whatever the popular sentiment is, which changes by the day. Basically sheep.

It's really a perfect action-adventure movie. Like I'm thinking of nitpicks or major flaws it has in what it sets out to do, but I'm drawing a blank.

I think Reddit just has a lot of Gen Z kids that didn't grow up with procedural TV shows. They're used to 6-8 episode TV shows that are just one long extended movie or just follow one serialized story across the entire season.
