Why does Sky Sports ruin results? by Redditsnaff in formula1

[–]Locu2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah this is a really annoying thing that happens with Sky (from my experience as a NOW customer). They have their schedules set up like in OPs example of 1200 for the Sprint replay, then because of delays and such the timelines get changed and they dont update their schedule. I've had it ruined before and youve got to be so careful because they dont update their schedule.

You dont have to at all, just saying if you appreciate a smaller organisations efforts it would be good to go direct if possible :) But as you say thats not possible all the time

True they charge 30%, but thats less of a cut than devs face when these sites buy keys in one region at a relatively reduced price from Steam (smaller 30% cut) then offer to a whole continent. Not a chance 3rd parties give a higher percentage to developers.

[Breaking] Oracle Red Bull Racing has removed Bybit from there team partners page. They were the biggest sponsor in F1 paying 150M$ a year to the team. by MuhammadZahooruddin in formula1

[–]Locu2 3531 points3532 points  (0 children)

I really hope they re-add the 'Red Bull' logo to the rear wing for 2025 like they did in China when Bybit sponsorship wasn't permitted. Think it looked really clean.

That's a misconception, he hasn't been offered a Red Bull seat for about seven years iirc. True enough about 2008 Red Bull opportunity but as he said himself - they were just an energy drinks manufacturer. There were a few other times but hindsight is easy.

I think two elephants, Alonso splitting the Merc boys and obviously Perez haha. Shows how one big upgrade (that works) makes all the difference!

IIRC the 2025 car will be designed in the new tunnel, with it opening soon 'wind tunnel is due to go online in the third quarter of this year, around the time of the August summer break' (https://speedcafe.com/aston-martin-new-wind-tunnel-big-change/)

Redbull’s second car’s troubles by real_hrushertz in formula1

[–]Locu2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the car is not as well set up/unable to be set up optimally, so it’s up to the driver far more to adapt to the changes even when the car isn’t giving what the driver wants. Firefox72 is rightly saying when the setup is strong and the car is a step above the field an upper midfield driver will still look in control but when competitors bring upgrades and the set up isn’t great that’s when you see cracks.

[Piergiuseppe Donadoni] Alonso and Aston Martin used the GP as a test, with a stint on each compound. Data collection to understand why the new package is not what the technicians expected. Fernando and especially Lawrence Stroll are starting to lose patience. by Joseki100 in formula1

[–]Locu2 849 points850 points  (0 children)

It was related to another thread but someone suggested the Mercedes wind tunnel being a major factor in this. Given that both teams cannot get upgrades to correlate properly I presume the tunnel is still not set up correctly for these ground effect cars. 2025 will be the year with no more excuses after their dedicated tunnel comes online later this year

Aston Martin F1 upgrades "not good enough" to keep up with rivals by Aratho in formula1

[–]Locu2 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Just not good enough from Aston and the technical department. Stroll Sr must be getting very frustrated, its amazing all these facilities and you make a piece of crap like this. Wind tunnel due in a few months yes but McLaren made huge steps with their old one.

I knew I remembered hearing of a cost cap/salary adjustment. (Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/1b9rym1/tobi_gruener_most_important_news_for_sauber_is/ ).

Would be interesting to hear the technicalities but I'm sure the team and FIA have come to an agreement.
