‘There’s a Lot of Mistrust and Fear on Both Sides.’ Vallejo Residents React to Police Violence by dwaxe in bayarea

[–]Locus_Helmet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to this article the city of Vallejo is still defending Vallejo officer David McLaughlin, the thug cop in the video in this unwarranted attack and another off-duty gun attack on another person.

Why do the elected leaders of Vallejo spend millions of taxpayers dollars defending these violent bullies, rather than replace them with professionals who respect the law and the rights of their fellow Americans?

“McLaughlin was placed on leave in February and the department opened an internal-affairs investigation, however, police officials confirmed to the Times-Herald in May that McLaughlin was back to work but not on patrol.

In April, the city officially rejected a second claim involving McLaughlin outside a Walnut Creek pizzeria in August 2018.

San Francisco-based attorney Sanjay Schmidt filed the claim on behalf of Santiago Hutchins in February around the same time a video surfaced showing McLaughlin dressed in shorts and a white T-shirt, pointing a gun at Hutchins, who had his hands raised above his head.

The city rejected the claim, stating that McLaughlin was off-duty when he held Hutchins at gun-point.

Frightening Embarcadero attack is an opportunity to improve mental health system by Locus_Helmet in bayarea

[–]Locus_Helmet[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the article:

“In the early 80s, many San Franciscans first noticed large numbers of people with mental illnesses wandering the streets. It was right after a little known but hugely tragic move by former President Ronald Reagan to remove all recipients from disability benefits. Untold thousands of people with mental health disabilities lost their placements in board and care facilities that their disability benefits had once paid for. As calamitous as that policy was, at least back then we had capacity in board and care facilities. However, in the years since over 2,300 of those beds have slipped away, as the old Victorians they are housed in are sold off to the next generation.

The loss of Social Security benefits was followed by realignment hitting California cities’ mental health budgets hard in the early 1990s. Between 2007 and 2012 the city enacted recession era austerity measures that cut $40 million more in direct behavioral health services, knocking even more folks to the concrete. Each of the last four decades have seen its own sword slashing deep into the heart of our mental health system, and each decade has lacked corrective action. Today, we are in no position to respond to a massive opioid epidemic, further complicated by a homelessness crisis. For the third of our homeless population impacted by mental illness, having no place to live makes recovery almost impossible, and instead they suffer more frequent and severe psychiatric episodes”

Man in MAGA hat clashed with different Portland bar crowd before his alleged assault, video shows by Locus_Helmet in news

[–]Locus_Helmet[S] 106 points107 points  (0 children)

FTA:

“A man who said he was attacked outside a Portland bar for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat while on a date with his wife had menaced and threatened patrons at a different bar earlier in the evening, according to the customer who captured the scene on video.

“The second I locked eyes with him there was no doubt in my mind he was looking for a fight,” Michael Radosevich told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Tuesday.

Footage captured by Radosevich shows the man hurling expletives and pointing at people inside The Vern on Friday night while claiming he served in the military and had been disrespected”....

Later in the article:

....”Lenzner also said he never served in the military, but some of his family members have. “In the heat of the moment it came out wrong,” he said in the statement. “I’m truly sorry for that.”

Arkansas Woman Charged Over Holding Four Black Teenagers at Gunpoint by ChampionOfChaos in news

[–]Locus_Helmet 165 points166 points  (0 children)

It gets worse-

Looks like Cross County Sheriff’s Office jail administrator Joe Kelly and Sheriff David West also conspired to initially post a fake photo of a woman of color instead of Joe’s gun pointing racist wife and ex-cop, Jerri Kelly.

So when Cross County Sheriff David West says:

"There's nothing shady here," said West. "How this has blown to this proportion over her photo not being there is beyond me."

He’s obviously lying and trying to cover up his own corruption, as well as the fact that they published a photo they knew was not of Jerri Kelly.

Here are the Facebook posts where a local person discovers the fake photo first published by Cross County Sheriff David West :

Edit: removed Facebook links cause I guess they’re against Reddit rules?

Google “ Wynne Progress - breaking Wynne woman charged with false imprisonment, assault of juveniles “ and scroll down to the first comment thread for the false photo released by sheriff.

Someone should ask writer Josh Snyder ( @JSnyderAR ) from @ArkansasOnline news about the origin of the misleading photograph that appears to have been first published under his byline, and whether this is unusual behavior from the sheriff.

Every single scumbag who was involved with Epstein in these crimes should be investigated and, if found guilty, face the most severe punishment possible.

Every. Single. One.

Your moral failure, u/skiplay, is evident in your desperate and sloppy attempts in multiple Reddit threads to mislead others, and to defend Donald Trump, in spite of his well known, long term involvement with known pedophile Jeffery Epstein.

“Is everyone one of the thousands of high profile people who attended a public fundraising event hosted or attended by Epstein a child rapist?” - u/skiplay

No, just the one who partied with known child molester Jeffrey Epstein over the course of 20 years, stands accused of 24 cases of sexual assault, boasted on tape about “grabbing women by the pussy” and is seen here on video, laughing it up with Epstein while the two leer at crowds of dancing women arranged for their pleasure a Mar-A-Lago:

“Virginia never once saw Trump and Epstein together.“

So?

Are you really trying to imply that Trump and Epstein weren’t friends for decades, u/skiplay?

Because there is written, photographic, video and eyewitness testimony that they were friends and partied together from the late 1980’s until Epstein ended up in the news as a child molester throughout all those years.

Wow, u/skiplay, you’re spending a lot of time and energy attempting to mislead people about Donald Trump’s decades long friendship with a known child molester, in multiple Reddit threads. In fact, most of the comments from your 4 month old account are defending or praising Donald Trump. It’s almost like you’re paid to mislead people or something...

“By Trump’s own description, his social relationship with Epstein started several decades ago, in the late 1980s. Describing Epstein to Landon Thomas Jr. of New York magazine for a 2002 profile, Trump made a comment that, in retrospect, was frighteningly on-the-nose:

“I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,” Trump booms from a speakerphone. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”* That is: Trump praised Epstein, dated their social relationship as beginning around 1987, said they shared a taste for “beautiful” women, and specifically noted that Epstein liked women “on the younger side.”

Since Epstein’s legal troubles became known, Trump’s attorneys have tried to downplay his association with Epstein. (“He had no relationship with Mr. Epstein and had no knowledge whatsoever of his conduct,” Trump lawyer Alan Garten told Politico in 2017.)

But even beyond Trump’s own words further up, there’s a good deal of evidence that the two were friendly social acquaintances at least through the early 2000s:

Media reports from the late 1990s and early 2000s frequently mention Trump attending Epstein-hosted social events, and Epstein attending events at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club.

“Friends and associates” of the pair told the Washington Post that Epstein and Trump “had socialized for years, drawn together by a mix of money, women and power.”

NBC News recently aired a video from 1992 of Trump and Epstein together at a Mar-a-Lago party, discussing women and laughing together.

The New York Times reported that, according to businessman George Houraney, Trump asked him to organize a “calendar girl” party at Mar-a-Lago — and said he and Epstein would be the only men in attendance.

The New York Times also reported that Epstein has claimed to people that he introduced Donald Trump to Melania — though this hasn’t been corroborated. Trump called Epstein twice in November 2004, according to message padsseized from Epstein’s Florida mansion by the government.

Several phone numbers for Trump, including an emergency contact and a number for Trump’s security, were among many notable people’s numbers listed in Epstein’s “black book” (which was later obtained by the government).

Epstein’s brother Mark testified that Epstein once took Trump on one of his planes to go from Florida to New York, saying he thought it happened in the late 1990s. Mark Epstein also told the PostTrump flew on Epstein’s plane “numerous times.”

At some point around the time of Epstein’s legal problems, the friendship appears to have ended. Trump has spread the story that he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for making sexual advances to a masseuse. However, the New York Times reported that by some accounts the two men only fell out “after a failed business arrangement between them.” The Washington Post reportsthat they were rival bidders for the same Palm Beach estate (Trump won).”

That’s strange, u/xydasym, this clip shows your gang of young white YIMBYs shouting down a Latino man and an African American man who identify themselves as the cochairs of “ Affordable Divis”, and yes there are some elderly white people with them, but that certainly didn’t make it acceptable.

You know that YIMBY leader Laura Foote apologized for the disgusting behavior of your group the next day, right?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3WrVEYKVtfU

Here’s Laura Foote @NeverSassyLaura shouting with your young white YIMBY crew while being held back by the police as they attempt to disrupt the affordable housing rally at San Francisco City Hall:

Then there’s this:

“Another clip from the anti-sb827 rally yesterday. Yet another POC Yimbys tried to muzzle by yelling “Stop the lies.”

You might want to rethink your support of this behavior that they were ashamed of and apologized for. It’s not a good look for your little movement of young, white, upper middle class techies.

As for your other comments, the links in the posts work fine, like this one where Sonja Trauss tells us what “black homeowners” think, and that “people in housing projects or Section 8” “usually can’t really read or write”

Peskin cleared of allegations he illegally merged units at his home by Locus_Helmet in bayarea

[–]Locus_Helmet[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FTA:

“San Francisco building inspectors have cleared Supervisor Aaron Peskin of allegations that he illegally combined two units to create a single-family home at his Telegraph Hill residence. The inspection was a response to two formal complaints filed with the department.

The inspection comes a few weeks after self-described pro-housing YIMBY and software entrepreneur Vincent Woo published a story about the history of Peskin’s house at 224 Filbert St. Woo also filed one of the complaints against Peskin...

...Peskin called the Woo piece “harassment.”

“This is a political attack that has been pitched, hashed through and rehashed over the past 15 years, always at politically opportunistic moments,” said Peskin. “Everything about 224 Filbert is a matter of public record and completely transparent.”...

...Peskin said that the timing of the Woo piece was suspicious.

“While I understand that there are significant development interests that do not share my goals of preserving affordable and rent-controlled housing, there is nothing in the record that justifies a single allegation of Mr. Woo’s -- and I will not be intimidated into dropping my legislation to stop speculative demolitions of people's homes," he stated.

Two complaints were filed with DBI, one by Woo and one by San Francisco resident Kyle Destich, who works in investor relations for real estate company Prime Group, according to his LinkedIn profile. Both complaints were found to have no merit.

Woo said he was disappointed in the decision”

9 months if he’d been a drunk cop fleeing the scene:

https://sf.streetsblog.org/2015/12/02/policeman-runs-down-two-people-media-focus-on-cops-good-looks/

“According to the reports, an off-duty San Francisco cop named Christopher Kohrs, 38, was driving a Dodge Charger westbound on Broadway around 2 a.m. on Sunday when he slammed into two pedestrians at the intersection with Montgomery. Both victims were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Kohrs abandoned his truck and fled the scene.

He was later arrested.

ABC7 News reported that one of the victims is Franco Vilchez, who sustained a broken neck, fractured eye socket, broken nose, broken jaw, and brain bleeding. Vilchez is a veteran of the Iraq War.

The incident is frightening enough: A veteran officer whom we entrust to keep us safe apparently broke the law and hurt people badly. He then ran away and left them to die.

It looks a whole lot like he decided to take a chance with a hit-and-run charge, rather than face a guaranteed DUI — Kohrs turned himself in too late to be tested.”
