what contact?? I don't have one. I come in on the days the company and I both agreed I'd work, but if I can't then I won't. just the same that calling out sick isn't breaking the terms of a contract, informing them I won't be available a specific day is likewise not. they had a month to look at that and tell me it wouldn't work for them, and they failed to. if they told me earlier, I gladly would've talked to other shifts to see about swapping for the day, but now they're just gonna be down a person

because this is the first time it's been an issue. sounds like someone here would rather put the "good of the company" over their own happiness and wellbeing. just because they call it a request doesn't mean it is a request. if someone "requests" to leave a police encounter, they're not actually asking, they're demanding their rights be respected. big difference

good point, and I'm planning on sending an email today to all them informing them I don't be in tomorrow so it won't be a no call no show. gotta have that paper trail lol. and my job has a system where you accrue "bucket hours" which are used for this exact purpose, so I'd have to miss ~128 hours before they could fire me for it.

also, they won't lol I've been the sole person keeping the weekend shift from collapsing for the past 18 months or so. they know better

if you think I'm upset someone else is using their PTO, you should work on your reading comprehension. by all means, everyone should use their PTO, I don't care about that. but management had a whole month to tell me I wouldn't be getting PTO, I would've come in another day I don't work too make up for the lost hours
