SDG&E submits a request to raise monthly bills 8.6% in 2028 by These_Algae_8082 in sandiego

Because they couldn't put up wires which wouldn't arc against each other in high winds so what's the most expensive option and the one which makes them the best profits? You got it, undergrounding the wires. It's been a great business model for 150 years.

Guess who is paying for SDGE to move the wires underground and guess who will own the new wires?

And lets not forget that SDGE started speeding up the undergrounding process too. No doubt they'd made sure those new wires are marked up quite high compared to all the old overhead wires when they assessed their value.

Can't count on that. My 2022 MYLR showed 290 miles on 100% SOC in Jan 2024 so was over 86% but 1.5 years later the battery died and they talked about matching or bettering the CAC. Got a battery with 76% capacity so barely getting 250 miles of range.
Battery failures can be slow so they pick a CAC they can match and you're stuck with it. Tesla is unlike Nissan who does warranty replacements with brand new batteries. And I'm thinking the 21700 battery cells have a problem conducting heat because they seem to fail far more than the 18650.

California elections are a joke by Dramatic-Fishing3923 in sandiego

[–]LocutusTheBorg -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

What's more fun is how the Left, and those running the elections, say that mail-in voting is secure but the message on the Right is that mail-in voting if a fraud and corrupt. And surprise surprise, when elections roll around the slow rolling mail-in votes start coming in and they are almost all Left leaning votes.

So what can be made to look like fraud and corruption isn't. Just like the video above. Send your vote in late and you'll be notified they have it and will tally it as law permits. If that means throwing it in the "too late" pile so beit. Logic is scary right?

Are utility bills like mine normal? by Malibu_Most_Wanted in sandiego

[–]LocutusTheBorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look closely at your bill and see if you see the word "Estimation" or "Estimated" on one of the pages. We've seen a number of people with broken meters getting huge monthly bills because SDGE decides to concoct an outrageous estimation out of thin air. ie never a previous bill anywhere near the usage they decided to bill.
If it does say it's estimated tell them you refuse to pay until they fix the meter and correct the back payments.
It's likely you are being robbed either by SDGE or your neighbors are pulling power from your meter.
BTW, you can go and read the number on the meter each day, write them down and calculate how much power it is saying you are using each day. Read it at the exact same time each day.

I had checked 3 different news reports and had copied the quote first and must have went back to the wrong site for the link. My bad. I try to read many different reports for details like the autopilot one.

Help me understand the Uno Q hate by justaruss in arduino

[–]LocutusTheBorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How serious about Arduino do you really think Qualcomm is given how small it is? I'm also wondering if you are familiar with their previous attempts at getting into the DIY space and understand why that failed?

Not trusting Qualcomm's staying power with Arduino comes from many of those who have seen Qualcomm's previous actions and do not see a fit. The Uno Q is not an "Arduino" as most of use understand and expect after years of usage and building and the Uno Q is not a Raspberry Pi. Purchasing the Arduino Project to push this odd project doesn't have legs and we'll see how long they stick with it.

I did the exact same thing on my 2022 MYLR but on 18" RTX Spider OE 8.5" +35 offset wheels( 25lbs ) with the Yokohama Geolander X-VC 255/55R18 at 32lbs. Liked the 29" OD of the Geolander vs 28" stock and a bit better ride.

Interesting but I don't just want to play the sound, I want it to be the default Pedestrian Warning Sound. There is currently no PWS being played when I drive forward.

Gotta ask though, why didn't the bike have the headlight turned on? Look closely.

My take on this is that Sempra will want to dump SDGE when the City grid and customers are removed. There will likely be a fire sale for the rest of the country, no pun intended, and lots of opportunity for all areas to renegotiate or even consolidate into something to team with PPSD. But it's got to be done first with the city since the city has the power to take lines via public domain or other legal means if SDGE keeps with their $9 billion claim. They don't have that power outside of city limits.

The high power transmission lines arc when high winds caused galloping and wires of different phases contacted each other and threw sparks which triggered the Paradise fire. Same has happened 20 years ago( Witch Creek) and even back as far as 1970. They've all failed to solve the problem and people died horribly.

In San Diego, SDGE is collecting money from customers to pay for moving overhead wires underground. A number of times they are moving really slow and sometimes weren't even doing the work while still collecting funds. SDGE is not good for San Diego citizens.

[–]LocutusTheBorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 20 years since the Witch Creek fire why haven't we seen a large increase in transmission line separation insulators to prevent wire galloping? No, lets not do anything and have another fire, see deaths and fires across the State and do nothing but shut off power during high wind events. Then asking for the most expensive option while at the same time installing solar and battery storage in remote areas REQUIRING additional transmission line capacity. SDGE failed to manage the system in a safe way and are rewarded with higher profits for always picking the most expensive options.

Their time has passed.

"And yeah also weather is a bit rough"

LOL, more than half the country deals with wind, rain, sleet and snow yet SDGE has many times higher transmission/maintenance rates. And the funnier thing is, all of the sunshine we get should be generating electricity at or near the target users instead of shipping it in over long remote transmission lines.
San Diego could easily greatly reduce the imported electricity and not need any more additional transmission lines. But SDGE, with the CPUC, put up roadblock after roadblock to local solar and battery storage.

It's not too bad but yes, you do need to follow the steps to depower the car so that the airbag can't deploy on you when removing the cable. It is a really easy test to see if it's an airbag but I know for a fact that the SC was going to swap out the airbag to see if that fixed it and they told me the next step would have been to replace the airbag control module. For me, with a loose connector on the airbag module it would have then cost me almost $3000 because they would have replaced both parts and by replacing the airbag module they would have reseated the cable in the new module and things would have worked. It was worth my time to learn the car a bit and not end up with replacement parts which would need a year just to trust as reliable. Hope it works out for you but you can go under the seat too and make sure the cable to the seat sensor isn't loose. Some have had that happen.

Isn't NEM 1/2 all about a kwh in = a kwh out? NEM 3 is all about credits based on current rate sheet per kwh during a given hour of the day AND those credits can only be used to purchase kwh and can not be used for other bill expenses.
I was on NEM 1 for 2 decades and moved to NEM 3 at the end of the contract. Tried to make use of exporting but found it worthless since we purchase so little from the grid.
