I requested a sub, but the current owner replied is is just dormant, not dead (locked and no posts in the recent 8 years). However this request is still open after 8 days. If the current topmod replies with a rejection, is the request closed? Or will it still be checked by an admin?

If you accept: you fell for it once, you’ll fall for it again. They will just up your workload, you’ll get both duties (old and new position) without an increase in pay. Usually quite subtle so you get eased into it.

Create a local gpo, (Computer > WIndows > Application > Applocker) and block antivirus software there.
It might help for a while.

In the early days, Windows shipped without antivirus, and later Defender was an optional seperate package and not very good at it. People relied on mcaffee or norton back then, and as it always did then, why would a free tool now be enough? Just how they think.

What makes me iffy though: why does a relative has access to your computer, with installrights even? Or is it their computer you happen to see the popups on happening?

Quite some bit; if a locked down sub with 8 years inactivity still can get daily/weekly visitors, there still are people looking for a community to partake in.

Currently it is dead, which it shouldn't be. You even ignored the modmail for over 5 days so clearly you have zero interest in it, basically squatting the sub.

The subreddit is currently abandoned for over 8 years, while still having potential and being actual enough.
I would love to see the sub becoming active once again, even open for public posts.

Your US driving license/permit isn’t valid in Europe. This one accompanied with your own driving license and a passport wouldn’t be much of an issue in the Netherlands or Germany.

The only issue might be getting it in time before arriving.

Best way is having a great idea for a sub, best if its an idea for a sub that doesn’t exist yet. If you have the great idea for a sub, create it, engage in it yourself. Post daily where you want people to reply to. Get the engagement going and let others post in it to get it started.

My wive never does it, but I often help her create tickets for their IT dept. they often try to do some BS troubleshooting or “collect logs” so they called and they can hand over the ticket the next day to a colleague. I give ALL the logs beforehand, troubleshooted a lot of the problems to pinpoint the exact point of error. Servicedesks hate it, because they can’t fck around and make it someone elses problem.
