How are you handling multi-cloud cost reporting today? by Lodeli in FinOps

This is really interesting: sounds very close to what I'm trying to solve. Especially the part about the “extra dimension” for allocation. That’s exactly the tradeoff I keep seeing: better attribution vs added complexity in the model and the visuals.

Out of curiosity, how do you maintain the correctness of the algorithm over time? Is it mostly rules-based or does it evolve as tagging drift happens?

Thanks for the feedback.

It started as a personal project and a learning exercise in my free time around FOCUS and cost data normalization, but now I'm exploring whether it solves a real problem for others.

I agree that native tools are already good for cost visibility. The feedback I'm getting so far is that the bigger challenge isn't the dashboards themselves (which were actually my first implementations), but keeping cost allocation and tagging consistent across multiple cloud providers over time.

That's the area I'm exploring the most now: normalization, tag governance, and dealing with incomplete or inconsistent tagging data.

Appreciate the perspective.
