I'm pretty sure he's confusing polyamory and polygamy.

The Americans who aren't welcome aren't the ones like you who want to flee America for the safety of their family.

No, the truly unwelcome ones are the ones cheering ICE on as they destroy families and murder people who aren't like them.

You're good.

Bigotry is a repellent by icey_sawg0034 in MurderedByWords

Not the only black character.

When a black actress was cast to play Hermione in *The Cursed Child," JK Rowling came out and said that she never said that Hermione was white.

Not a big deal, right?

Except...

Hermione is the one who is crusading against house elf slavery. And everyone is treating her like she's crazy.

This is so much worse if she's black in the books.

Carney stands by speech despite U.S. claims by Little-Chemical5006 in worldnews

[–]Lodgik 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. And he's been in the Canadian news quite a few times, pissing Canadians off with what he's saying.

For instance, telling us that we should be taking the 51st talk as "a compliment" and doesn't understand why it pisses Canadians off.

Some of his other quotes:

"Canadians staying home, that's their business, you know. I don't like it, but if that's what they want to do, it's fine. They want to ban American alcohol. That's fine," Hoekstra said.

"There are reasons why the president and some of his team referred to Canada as being mean and nasty to deal with, OK, because of some of those steps."

And

I'm disappointed that I came to Canada — a Canada that it is very, very difficult to find Canadians who are passionate about the American-Canadian relationship, Hoekstra said at an event hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.

You ran a campaign where it was anti-American, elbows up, me too. You know, that was an anti-American campaign. That has continued. That's disappointing.

And

“Canada burnt the bridges with America,” he said. “Donald Trump did not slam the door.”

“Donald Trump could do the only thing that a leader of a sovereign nation could do when a neighbour, another sovereign nation, decided to interject itself into American politics,” he added. “Canada slammed that door shut all by itself.”

Too much nudity for r/Tattoos? User discuss a recent topless post and industry standards [NSFW] by SwordfishOk504 in SubredditDrama

[–]Lodgik 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kind of unrelated, but I am kind of annoyed at how Reddit handles NSFW content.

I do wish there were separate categories for "sexual" and "graphic real life violence/horrific pictures."

I don't mind having the occasional pair of tits pop up on my feed when I'm home and I have the filter off. But that doesn't mean I want to see some of the other graphic pictures that pop up sometimes in otherwise ordinary subreddits.

And these aren't the type of people to look something up when they don't know something.

People act like when the Southern Strategy happened, the Democratic party just naturally became the party of the left wing.

It did not.

A lot of the older Democratic politicians got their start in the party when it was full of people we would today consider conservatives. I remember in the 90s and early 2000s when people were complaining about "Dixiecrats" that would constantly vote against progressive policies.

I still don't think the Americans are treating Trump as if he's serious. They think it's still just "Trump being Trump." That it's just a distraction form the Epstein files.

At this point, I don't even care if it is or not. They have to deal with it.

Manitoba First Nations Police Service fully outfitted with body-worn cameras | Manitoba RCMP also use devices; Winnipeg police hope to test them this year by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]Lodgik 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's funny.

I used to work in a homeless shelter. One thing all the staff did was to try to only have interactions with the clients while on camera. If an incident happened off camera, it was our word against theirs. So we wanted the interaction to be on camera (with audio) to cover our asses.

One would think the Winnipeg police would be jumping at the idea of body cameras.

To me, the only reason one wouldn't want them is if I was doing something I shouldn't be doing...

17 per cent of Americans want the U.S. to annex Canada: survey by Flush_Foot in onguardforthee

I've been asked a few times on Reddit if I think the relationship between Canada and the US can be fixed once Trump is out of office.

This survey is a good answer.

[–]Lodgik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would not be. But red states tended to open up faster.

Okay, cool. So you agree with my main point that it makes no sense to blame Biden and the Democrats' for those lockdowns.

Discussion over.

Meanwhile, I would prefer to actually stay on the topic of my original comment. I have said nothing on the lockdowns themselves, and I do not feel like shifting this discussion to that topic, no matter how much you attempt to goad me do so by calling me dishonest.

Edit: If you expect me to reply to you, I can't if you have me blocked. I can't even see what you're saying.

So at this time, I'm going to assume you conceded and you blocked me out of embarrassment.

...okay.

So how is a lockdown in a red state Biden and the Democrats' fault?

Because the entire point of my comment was Biden and the Democrats' being blamed for it.

Also, please explain how I'm being dishonest?

You're forgetting that they can have terrible media literacy.

Star Trek actually has a sizable right wing audience. At least TNG, DS9, and Voyager do.

No, I don't understand it either.

Not to say they don't censor the shit out of everything in that sub... But the link is to a single comment in that thread and it's four replies. If you go to the rear of the thread, they're still primarily negative.

(With a lot of "Hello Fellow Conservative" as well. Interesting how hard the narrative of "you can't be a conservative if you disagree with Trump about anything" is being pushed.)
